Used D Segment battle

hi im in the market to buy a used car for myself, and would greatly need the experince of TeamBhp to help, i have narrowed it down to 3 cars
1- Sonata Embera Petrol 2006 Automatic
2- Honda Accord 2.4 2005 Automatic
3- Skoda Superb 2005 Petrol Automatic
keep aside resale which would be the better car for city use, and fun driving on the weekend, with the 1st 2 choices the car stayed the same with no cosmetic changes untill 2009 ( the honda accord 2008 cant really be called a cosmetic change) as for the superb which is my top choice for now , i heard that in 2006 it received a few changes, accept for the wooden interiors and the mirror signal indicators i cant find any other difference, need to know if any one knows what those changes were please, by the way hoping to buy the car my tomorrow :-) thanks for your help

I would say the Sonata Embera. IMO, it is more comfortable and more stable than the Accord. It only misses out on good looking interiors and the Honda badge.

I was never a fan of the older superb (the new one is awesome! ) and don't like the hyundai much. Honda, all the way.

I would pickup Accord, though if somehow embera had been a diesel one it would had been an superior choice.

Accord not only for H Badge but also for the luxury feeling, easy to drive and higher snob among the competition.

Seeing the auto-box common x all, so assume you would be driving and if so, the Honda Accord else for being driven in the Embera makes sense.

Be informed, the (Superb/Accord) V6's are gas guzzlers and the Superb will be an overkill to run and service.

My first choice would be the Accord, then the Embera. I would skip the Skoda, after reading stories in the forum of people having some very bad experiences with Skoda A.S.S.

Without a doubt, the Accord automatic. Reasons:

1. Superior overall quality & reliability than the Embera and the Superb. Safest bet.

2. Excellent automatic gearbox.

3. Revv happy engine.

4. The previous gen Accord was more driver oriented than the Embera, Superb and even the currently sold Accord.

5. Ready parts supply and support. The previous Superb & Embera both suffer from wait periods for many parts.

You can't go wrong with the Accord. Hey, it will retain its value better too.

Honda is the best out of the list. I am not sure about India but Hondas of 2005 in US/Canada were plagued by transmission problems. So make sure that has been dealt with at the dealership before you go ahead!

thanks for the response, well the 2005 honda accord with 38000 kms + will be in the range of 6.40 to 7.00, the Embera 2006 with 30000 was supposed to be in the range of 6.50 ( the guy decided to change his mind and sell it for 8, he says the price on the net ) and the 2005 skoda superb with 27700 kms is in the range of 6.50 to 6.80

2005 honda accord 6.5 is a good price, Embera price of 8L is a joke, 6.5 for 2006 is more approprite. 2005 superb at 6.5 is a steal. though expensive to maintain,

Honda seems the best choise, if you can aford the maintenance of a Superb you might as well go for a V6 3L accord auto and have the time of your life for about 6.5-7L for a 2005 model.

Why not lookout in market for Accord 3.0 V6, it's easily available in used car market at the cost peanuts of what originally first customer might had paid at the time of purchasing. It is a gem of mechanical marvel at the price it is available in market. Though you need to understand it might not a very much FE happy.

Still, from the options provided Accord is Ok-ok priced, Embera is price outraged and Skoda is available at very nice price tag. Still, I would pick up accord from the lot.

I would not recomend the 3.0 v6 accord. The 2.4 auto was much better. I mean if your a power freak and dont mind the low F.E. then go in for the 3.0 ltr. otherwise the 2.4 is quick and gives a better F.E. i have had both in the house and i prefered the 2.4 auto.
The Embera is still at home and i dont like it one bit, my older 2.7 v6 is still better in all angles. Looks, power and comfort wise.
The skoda is a very troublesome car and with anything going wrong the support is very bad. The wait for parts and the careless attitude of the service guys puts you off. So skoda i dont recomend to anyone, unless you want to go through hassles.
The most reliable and hassle free car that i find in this segment are the Honda's.
