Team-BHP - Which is the best used car for a budget of 30L?

Hey everybody,

My first post at Team BHP forums. Feels great to be part of this community. Ya, so my question: Which would be the best used car to buy for around 30L?

Any car under 2-3 years of use would be fine with me. I was specifically looking at the AUDI A4, Mercedes C or E.

I would really love to have the BMW 5 series too. But would I get it for that price? FYI, I am from Kerala. The car would be self driven with occasional long trips. Do I have any other options?

You can get 2-3 year old Mercs & A4's for a lot less, maybe in the range of 20. You may even get a 5 series for 30L - just look hard & try the dealerships themselves for used cars.

You would be looking at a used 5. If you want the W211 E, wait for a month or two, after the launch of the W212 the prices of the old model should fall a bit.

If the 5 series I can get for that budget then that will be the first priority.
Can anybody tell me how much a used Merc Benz CLS 350 wud cost?

Thanks, but I want to try out BMW or Merc or AUDI. German cars. Have been using Honda Civic and Skoda Laura. So thought this might be a change.

In that case BMW 5 will be apt for you.
If somehow no good deal comes your way for beemer then next option should be an Audi A4.

There is no comparison with respect to the BIG 3 namely the BMW, Audi & Merc vs the Accord, Camary & the like. Also the gentleman has a 30L budget.

Do not "just" advise because you have to - pardon me.

A 2/3 year old Fiver should be in your budget, correct me if I'm wrong here. Especially if it's a petrol. Mind you, it'll depreciate just as quickly even in your hands. I doubt a CLS could be had at this price.

My friend just bought a 2006 Bmw 530d for 26 lakhs through a dealer and inturn the Dealer had bought it for 23 lakhs from the owner. Incase you guys are wondering why i did not save my friend a few lakhs its because he had done the deal with the dealer without my knowledge. So overdrive a 06 or early 07 BMW 530d should be in your budget. A used CLS 350 would be in the 50 to 60 range i am guessing.

:OT Wow! I think that's a good buy. Looks like the big brand cars such as BMW, Audi and Mercedes are having decent second-hand prices, according to me. I didn't think that India would have a second-hand market like this. Correct me if I am wrong.

26 Lakhs is a very good price for a 530d, 3 years used. Hope I manage to get a similar deal.

BMW India started selling 525d's only initially.

The 530d was launched in mid 2008 only.

I am guessing this has to be an imported 530d; in that case please check and ensure that all papers are in order, especially Import Bill of Entry.
