Has anyone got a sunfilm done from this brand - "Infra Kool Solutions Pvt. Ltd." ?

I was looking to get sunfilms done for my Ritz and after going through the mammoth threads on TBHP, decided to get a V-KOOL VK-70 installed on the front screen and 3M CS series for the rest. Since Infra Kool solutions on Lal Bagh Road (Bangalore) seemed to be the popular pitstop for V-Kool, I paid them a visit and was told that they have don't deal with V-Kool anymore, and that they now have a brand themselves, Infra-Kool. They showed their catalogue and their usual live demo, both of which were quite impressive.

The company seems to have started in 2006. They have certifications from IWFA, Energy Star and QA International on their main display board. Unlike V-Kool, these guys don't seem to be NFRC certified.

I'm unable to find a mention of this brand on TBHP. So, I looked them up on the web. This is their website : http://www.infrakool.com . Website's convincingly professional, as are their office staff and their sales approach (catalogue with specs for each film, certifications, demo, etc.). Their products seem to directly competing with V-Kool in terms of performance. Infact, their IK-70 has 97% IRR, better than V-Kool's VK-70 and is priced about 2.5K lower!

After going through all the material, I was convinced and decided to get it installed. IK-70 on windshield and MR-37 on the sides & rear. Price was Rs.17,250. The dealer came down to 14,500 after negotiations (a little over 15% discount). They issued a 5 year warranty against peeling, cracking, de-lamination, discoloration, etc. I was happy with their service - the way the salesman responded to my queries and then the important thing ofcourse - the installation! I got the installation done only this weekend (16 Jul 2011), no issues so far, will wait and see. Will post updates here.

Meanwhile, has anyone else got an InfraKool film installed? Or heard about it? Bad? Good?

I have done it for Innova from Nandi toyota. I took IK 65 for front windshield (75% heat rejection). Took IR 35 or something like that (with 50% heat rejection) for side and back.

They give 5 year warranty. Costed be 9500 from show room. I had a quote of 12K for similar configuration from V-kool (direct dealer for all of Bangalore). Showroom quoted 14.5K.

Initially I was a bit skeptical, but then took the plunge with the price and warranty. Anyways, its from the Toyota dealer, so there will be some accountability.

So far, happy with results. Even if parked in sun for an hour or so, it doesnt feel as hot. Steering wheels and (art leather) seats are of only moderate temperature. Cools in 2 minutes once A/c is on. Furthur, I can switch off engine at signals. I drive with all windows closed 95% of the time. Overall, I felt it was worth the 9.5K I spent.:). Now, time will tell!!!

Glad to hear this! The sun film dealer did mention tie-ups with car dealerships, including Mercedes and Audi :D.

I have fitted Infrakool HR-35 on all my windows few days back. But nothing on my wind shield. Since then yet to drive it in strong sunlight and test is properly. Last few days Bangalore weather is lovely. Will keep you posted

My priority was the film should be as light as possible and at the same time provide heat protection. Similar spec V-kool product cost 60% more.

Hi,

Stay away from Infracool - Lalbaugh, Bangalore!!

They have cheated me by installing thier films when I paid for VKool however this was couple of years back. He was reportedly an un-authorised dealer and was removed from VKool dealer network. VKool now has thier own branded store in bangalore.

What they demonstrate and what they fix are totally different; even their installation is not good..when i reported growing bubbles and dust particles (< 1 week) on my front windshield, they hardly bothered to fix it..infact they said, it was the problem with the glass, weather, pollution etc. and not the sunfilm nor istallation!!

Just my 2 cents!!

Uh oh! This is not good news! When did you go to them for installation? And just out of curiousity ... how are you sure the film is not V-Kool? When you paid for V-Kool, didn't they give you a V-Kool warranty card? If they installed the wrong film, you have every right to claim a full refund, no?

I have little expertise in these things but as far as I know, both V-kool and Infra-Kool come with warranty against bubbles. You really should have a case for a re-installation if there are bubbles and dust particles. Windshield is not an "accessory" that one gets done in some random workshop for these guys to complain about the quality of glass!

I'm surprised to hear about your experience because my own turned out to be quite pleasant. Since Infra-Kool seems to be competing directly with V-Kool (in terms of their product specs, if not in terms of brand value per-se), I can understand if you don't hear V-Kool guys going all-nice about these guys (Infra-Kool guys also had a cpl of stories to share about problems with V-Kool - the products, pricing and supply chain) but installing wrong film and cribbing about glass and weather sounds cheap!

Was going to recommend them to a friend. Do you mind giving me your reference? Would like to seek a clarification with these guys about your case.

Hi,

Mine was a Safari and this has happened a couple of years back. I've reported the bubble and dust issues with them...they have not done anything at all...all they did was to puncture and blowdry them!

They have given me a detailed bill and not a warranty card.

The sunfilm which was used was not VKool...however they charged me stating that it is VKool. I got this checked from one of the VKool technicians I've met later. It was too late and point-less to pick a fight with him. Unlike 3M, VKool does not have in-built logos/trademark info in the film.

The heatlight - demo they show is the actual VKool strips and not InfraKool; infact VKool and InfraKool are not from one world. VKool is second to none (even there very product name is a copy of VKool!)

I now have a Vento and I've installed the same spec sunfilm from the authorised dealer and difference is again worlds apart. VKool insulates most solar heat, glare, etc..yes it is a bit expensive but worth it!

I've nothing against them (its the way of life to earn a living for some).

Cheers

As I indicated above, I got it installed from Nandi Toyota. They warranty it for 5 years. So far, I am happy, but its only 4 months. Driven under hot sun, and not bad results.
The price difference between same spec films from InfraKool and V-Kool was 5K (9.5K for infrakool and 14.5K for v-kool, from showroom). I had got a 12K quote from v-kool main distributor, but thought of taking the risk thinking Toyota's franchisees wont supply a totally junk product. And they will fit only the genuine product (I believe so!). I can PM the v-kool contact if rqd.

But, if you are not doing it from any reputed showroom, then better go for well known brands, and with proper bills and warranty certificates. Even it means it is a bit costlier.

Hi guys. Need feedback on both Vkool and infrakool. I plan to get my Vento sun film done next weekend

If you are doing it from show room, ask for a demo and warranty card for both.

If you are satisfied with the results of infrakool, I think you can go for it. I have it on my Innova for the last 5 months, and have not faced any issues. Got it done from Nandi Toyota.

If you are not getting it from showroom go for V-Kool only. Or 3M. Not worth risking others.

Most heat gets inside through windshield, being more slanted in orientation. So, you probably wont feel much difference yet.

One way to check is to hold your palm behind the glass, and then directly under sunlight, and feel the difference. Not very accurate, but will give a reasonable feel.

Hi Invader

Sorry to hear about the bubbles and surprised they didn't give you a warranty card with bill.

They gave me a 5 yrs warranty card from Infra-kool. Warranty hold goods for the following points
1. Manufacturing defects
2. Effectiveness of film against solar radiation
3. Natural fading, discoloration, cracking, peeling, adhesive failure, delaminating and demetalising.

It does not cover any damages caused due to mishandling and/or scratching

Samm - my windshield area is quite small compared to most cars and its almost straight and not slanted. So not much heat or light enters it. I have tried putting my hand in the windows as you mentioned and also rolling up & down the window in stong sunlight. The cooling is very effective. Another thing I have noticed is that the AC cooling has become more effective

So as of now am quite satisfied.

I agree they may have still cheated us in the heat light test but we will need another sunfilm specialist/gadget to detect that. And being in market most competitors spit at each other. And without asking they did mention that they were Vcool dealers earlier and don't deal with them anymore.
After finishing my car the technician were rushing to Toyota dealer. Its almost like OEM for all Toyota cars and I guess Toyota is quite quality concious.

The main reason I decided for this brand was it was through Toyota. Also there was a 5K difference with v-kool similar spec'd one in the showroom. Through the direct V-kool dealer, the difference was 3K. Anyways, so far so good.
Glad to hear your experience is not bad either...:)

I had installed Ik70 few months back on the Ws, did find some difference in heat rejection but not sure if it was worth 10k i spent on it.

also bubble started ppear in too many places, so installation was BAD, however imran had told that he will rectify that.
