Just completing the work on a turbocharged Baleno.

This car uses a configured-to-order K03 derived turbocharger.

The engine has been fitted with forged conrods and girdle.

A front mount intercooler and external wastegate are part of the turbocharger circuit.

We have used an additional injector and a piggyback Unichip Q+ to manage the boost and additional injector.

The car is also fitted with Hotbits suspensions and is getting a Wilwood brake upgrade.

Hi, you have mentioned about what you have done on this mod. Inputs on how you went around getting into details like -
a) AFM ratios
b) Engine operating points with turbo
c) Ignition control
d) Boost control
e) FI strategy
f) Knock (??) etc. would be welcome.

Spike

Thanks for the thread. Please list out the details of the brake upgrade and the hotbits suspension. Cost and part numbers would be of great help.

Congrats for the new setup! If possible could you pls upload the performance chart and yes, would love to see a video upload of the growling engine!

Hi Spike

As mentioned already, engine management is by the OE ecu with a Unichip Q+ piggyback ecu. The aim is to maintain AFR in the range of 12 - 12.5. The Unichip drives the additional injector and this injector is used to maintain the AFR at the desired levels.

The Unichip also cotnrols the wastegate actuation through the solenoid so the boost curve is sharper and flatter.

The Unichip is capable of both retarding and advancing the timing.

The Boost strategy is to develop boost as early as possible in the rev band (say around 2000 rpm). I will post more details as soon as the mapping is completed.

FI strategy - as already mentioned, the Fuel Injection strategy is that we use oe injectors driven by the oe ecu. In addition, the additional injector controlled by the Unichip is used outside closed loop conditions.

This additional injector has enough capacity to meet all the additional fuel demand of the engine.

The entire tuning is done on a dyno and the AFR and timing will be carefully modified to be in the safe operating area, outside knock conditions.

I am adding another couple of picture showing the external wastegate and the intercooler.

I will post further details as I get to complete the dyno tuning.

Cheers

Did a tune on the car today.

More or less completed except for some finishing touches.

Thanks to the boost control function, the torque comes in early and I also managed to get a fairly flat torque curve.

Will finish off the tune tomorrow.

Hey Sapl,

Was very interested in this thread when it came up and wanted to see the finished product. However, I've seen that there are no updates on this thread. Could you please post some pictures of the finished car and also the final torque and power figures i.e., after the finishing touches!! clap:
