Remember the color temperature quoted is just a guesstimate. The value is strictly true only for 'black body' radiation. So the value quoted is just that. For all you know the light may have a high content of warmer radiation. The same is true for HIDs since the discharge is in the UV and then the phosphor converts it to visible light.

I expect the LED to have two or three primary wavelengths.

Are 4000K or 4500K LED headlight bulbs available yet? The ones that I see online are mostly 6000K (which are useless in the rains).

Can someone suggest me where can I get my BMW e60 headlight Xenon/HID replaced with Bright White LED in Gurgaon.
I also want to replace yellow Angel Eye Lamps with Bright White LED like the newer BME 5 Series.

Stick with the HIDs, they will give you better output than most of the LED options on the market. Also the BMW projectors are designed to work with them and not LEDs so you might not get a good beam pattern and you will end up with worse lighting after upgrading to LED.

To change from Yellow to White Angel eyes you would probably have to open up the Headlight assembly which again, isnt a good idea. Maybe you could search online and order an entire headlight assembly swap that is compatible with your car and has the features you want

Could you post some pictures with the lights ON at night? Did you consider/compare with the the Philips X-treme Ultinon before buying?

Philips X-treme Ultinon retails for about ₹10k.
These LED's are Available for as low as 2k INR, but branded ones are bit costlier.

Although the throw from these lights is impressive. :)

I came across a brand of LED Headlamps called Spedy on Snapdeal.
Anyone hear of it or used it? They haven't specified whether it is 6000 K or 4300 K.

Output of the Philips LEDs for everyone's benefit. Taken from iPhone from inside the car and no corrections done. Been using them for a while now and I am very very happy with these. Well worth the money.

Are you using these bulbs in reflectors or in Projectors?

These are used on the stock headlights (reflectors) on my wife's 2011 Honda City. Bulbs are H4. If i am following a vehicle or point directly at a wall, you can see the factory cutoff as well. That is the biggest advantage of Philips. It is a reputed brand, factory cut off is maintained and consequently, no glare for on-coming traffic.

Please be wary of the intense heat generated by these bulbs. It will eventually melt the 3 plastic tabs on the bulb unless the heat dissipation is really really good. These tabs should ideally be made of metal like in halogen bulbs.

Happened with me with the H8 fog lights. Switched to 55W H11 halogen bulbs. Light intensity is a little lesser but better than 35W lamps.

I realized that LEDs are running very very hot due to the rubber cover blocking any air circulation. So I removed the rubber cover (LEDs dont like high temperatures) completely. A bit of water shouldn't cause any problem as LEDs are waterproof.
Also the 3 tabs holding the bulb are entirely made up of metal just like in any halogen lamp, so no worries regarding the heat dissipation.

These LED kits will eventually become cheaper after a couple of years. What i see is most of the LED have color temperature 6000K which as we know is useless in rains. Wonder what prevents the established manufacturers like philips to offer the bulbs in 4300K temperature

Even LEDs offered as original equipment in cars have a colour temp of close to 6000k. I'm not sure why, but they definitely work in rain and far better than xenons that too.
