as there is only one beam no hi or low , installing one light with xenon and other with normal helogen will solve the problem so that a dipper function can be achived. |
Isn't the placement switched for halogen and Xenon. You would like the xenon for low beams (usual postion is outer headlight) and use high beam as dipper.
Yes thats correct. the xenon and halogen positions are switched in the example pics, the low beam (outer) is normally xenon. But even in a twin setup case the xenon will always be in a projector and not in a reflexive beam.

Ok. this may sound (should i say look) very naive. I have gone thru this link and i would request all experienced folks to
please correct/verrify my understanding and answer my questions,
1. If only HID Kit is installed then there will be no high and low beam setting as in normal Bulbs.
If this is true, will the vision range not be limited because in normal or 100/110w bulbs, your vision range ( thats my term for distances upto which you can see) on high beams increases dramatically. I am sure everybody would agree with me that hight beam helps in spotting the odd buffalo coming onto the road
from a distance, will that feature go out of the window when HID's are installed?
2. I have a Baleno, I am planning to install a P4 HID Kit for about 15-16k. What is the best way I should I get it installed? Projection type, reflexive type or what??? Remember I am putting in such a high expense only to be able to
1. See more of the road and see it more clearly at nights.
2. i do not intend to blind oncoming motorists at all costs.
3. the car to look at little cooler ( only if 1 and 2 are satisfied).

Well, This is incorrect.
I am not entirely sure of the reason, but from what I understand - H4 bulbs have the ability to move forward and backward which causes high & low Beam.
The single bulb concept (e.g. the Type1 OHC) was common earlier but it's usage is progressively dercreasing.

Well, as has been much debated and finally concluded - the ideal way would be to use a Projector setup. But it's usage is a function of the following 2 key factors -
1. whether a projector setup is available at all, for the Baleno
2. whether you want to incur the extra cost of getting rid of the existing reflexive setup.
Hey Driven, could you please pm the details as to where i can get the projector headlights for the swift! Wud be a huge help! Cheers!
a h4 hi lo halogen bulb has a pair of filaments in it which gives us the hi and low beam function
a xenon with hi/lo function has either a solenoid actuated moving bulb or some new ones have two discharge chamber i.e the actual filament as you may call it and these new kits sometimes come with two ballasts for each bulb
aftermarket projector housings are also available which themselves move without moving the bulb to give hi and low beam
any info on d projectors??? have been hoping to lay my hands on a pair for quite a while now!!
any info on d projectors?? driven!!? anyone??? pls let me know!!
Driven is currently out of the country so wait till next week & he'll answer your queries then.
