Hi All,

Can you pls advice me on the following mod for my 2005 esteem vxi?

1. Freeflow Exhaust (Commercial Automech job) - will this lead to louder sound? Approx cost - 10K

2. Will K&N hyper performance air filter with cold induction / intake help in anyway with performance / FE? Is it worth? Approx cost - 10K

3. Mobil 1 Oil - Will this help in performance / FE? Approx cost - 3K

4. Raising the car - putting some packing under the shock absorbers to raise the ground clearance of the car, given that esteem is very low in height.

5. Any idea abt the advantages of -
(a) MSD 8.5 mm super conducting wire
(b)Upgraded MSD blaster SS Coil
(c) Show air vents on Bonnet and roof like in sports cars

How much each of these will cost? Is there anyone available in Pune for these mods? Or will it be better to get this done in Mumbai? How much time does each of these take to get done?

I drive fast but not wild :)

Apologies for the long query, all / any help will be appreciated.

Go in for the filter and FFE mods. Don't raise the car. Go in for the ignition mods last. Am not an expert. Just following the '25bhp' thread.

All the above is crap, who ever told you about all that? Waste of money IMHO.

Check this excellent thread out by GTO.

I'm no guru, but here are my 2 cents...

1. Definitely louder than stock. I believe you can specify how loud you want it. And there are options other than Automech.

2. Slight increase in performance, and a tangible increase in FE if you don't get too inspired by the intake growl and step on the gas too much.
If you go for filter+custom intake pipe, it should cost less than 10k.

3. Performance - not really
FE - not appreciably
From the price, I am assuming you are referring to fully synthetic oil.

4. Dunno if this is advisable. Not sure what you mean by "packing under the shock absorbers". Suspension kits are available to lower/raise your car... you could pursue that angle if you really want to do this.

5. (a),(b) Nothing much actually
(c) Cosmetic only... if you like the way they look, go for it.

Look around the Modifications & Accessories section. Most of the items you have mentioned have been discussed extensively and can help you take a more informed decision.

Thanks for the response BUSA, the thread has loads of Info.. will go through that :)

Thanks for the detailed response razor4077. Yes, it is synthetic oil that I was referring to in pt 3. I went through lots of threads but some places the information is contradictory, so thought to summarize it at one place. :Cheering:
