Team-BHP - Headlamp mods for Skoda

A friend of mine has a skoda octavia. Off late we are observing that the head lamp is not as strong as it used to be.I dont know if there is any probs. We did get it checked at the showroom...guys there claim its okay!
We were alos thinking about a new bulb....We went to a shop and he suggested ...hmm I guess 95/100 ( I'm sorry if I'm not making sense with these numbers....I'm not that techi on the electricals !!:) ) But I was worried about the reflectors....which might get melted with the higher rating

I want suggestions...

1) Should we get the head lamps rectified!...
2) Should we get a new bulb

Also could you please suggest a good place in blore where I can get it done!

you can be pardoned, being a newbie, welcome to the forum.
but please use the search function.

there are numerous postings regarding your query, and there is a super long dedicated thread on auto lighting (more regarding the 100/90 lamps)

to make it short,... a 100 W lamp cant 'melt' something like a headlamp housing!!! (atleast not when fit with good branded accessories and methods)

I would suggest keep your car next to a new car and compare the headlamp brightness (maybe park them in front of a white wall)

if you decide to upgrade, be considerate and buy something that doesn't blind the oncoming traffic. i am seeing lot of cars with after-market blinding white lights - and they start showing them off even during day time!

@ Deltabox - I faced the same problem with my Octy. Actually, the main problem is the stock bulbs provided by Skoda. They are grossly under powered IMHO. The Skoda A.S.S. had no idea how to improve upon the stock fixtures. I contemplated 100/90 bulbs with harness etc. But, got a good deal on 6000K HIDs and am currently using those (at the lowest beam position to avoid blinding oncoming traffic). Haven't faced any problems.. yet!

@Shuvd what make are these 6000K HID....Is it a direct fit on or do I need to make mods with the wiring ?

How much will Xenon cost?...any good place in blore where I can go and get these things done?

I have recently upgraded my Octavia headlights to 80/100 W Bosch normal light colour NOT white. Normally Phillips or Hella would be 90/100 W As the visibility is best in a yellowish tinge (OE) color. Am very happy with the result. Cost 400/- Think that is the best solution. That is my opinion, many may disagree.
