Team-BHP - best CAI

hey guys finally got a ractive ev500 for my swift!
the first issue was finding a decent place under the cramped hood, once that was sorted by pushing the battry back a little the issue of what kind of CAI to use popped up,

i got the plumbing made in mild steel but the issue is how to protect it from getting hot, the metal piping tends to absorb heat from the engine bay, chrome plating sure looks good but i dont think it would really shield the intake from the heat any suggestions to insulate the plumbing??
as in what material to use and where to source it from!

I think you are worrying about the wrong thing here. If your filter is in the engine bay then you should try to insulate the filter by putting a heat shield of some sort.No matter what you do your filter will suck on hot air if it is in the engine bay and you dont have a scoop or the new Kits which come with an extra hose for the cold air.

i know it is going to suck in some hot air it is next to impossible to get fresh air without the risk of water! but the filters placed in a decent enough location (infront of the battery) but the last thing i want is the air to get further heated due to heated pipes!
will try to find a decent shielding solution as soon as i find a good one for this! thnx!

its not directly in front of the radiator, and its the best possible solution, the car definately feels better, so i dont think i have any other option! im bed ridden right now so cant post pics yet!
but i seem to have found a soultion by wrapping the plumbing in fiberglass tape similar to that used in a cast(orthopedic). it has good thermal insulation properties and would be easy to wrap!

The BEST CAI for the Swift is the stock location.
A stock-replacement K&N/Green/Pipercross/Ractive filter in the Stock airbox which takes cold air from the honeycomb grill plus 3 times the air volume compared to a regular OE filter.

Come rain,come shine! The swift will drive fine!

moreover i tried a stock replacement k&n in my zen and it did nothing noticable!

This wont be very noticable either.

i know it wont make much of a difference by itself but definately feels better than what i remember of the stock replacement! anyways getting back to the topic, any suggestions for insulating the plumbing?
