Hi Guys,

I have 1 Esteem car which is LX model...

My query is there a possibility to make it LXi i.e. add a power steering to it...

If yes, where it can be done and what is the cost to do it... (in Delhi)

Request to please let me know..

You guys just rock...:Cheering:

Have you tried enquiring at one of the M.A.S.S ? Not to sound discouraging but IMO this would be a rather expensive affair and is not worth the trouble and money you would end up spending on this.

P.S: You can always make your car an LXi by replacing the moniker on the trunk lid lol:

if you get it done from m.a.s.s. ,the power steering unit would cost you something around 40k + labour will be extra.

Long time back even i had plans of converting my Zen VX to Zen VXi, ie. retro fitting a power steering to it but when i asked the MASS people they told me that it would cost me approximately 35K:Shockked: but a friendly service advisor told me that i can get the whole unit from Chor Bazzar (read as Shivaginagar in Bangalore) and it would work out cheaper and he would do the fitting for around 4-5K. So the next day went to Chor Bazzar and searched the whole place and finally found the whole power steering assembly of Zen VXi but that guy was not ready to sell it for less than 25K...
Finally thought that it is not worth investing around 25K plus 4-5K for a power steering assembly.
Anyhow as of now i have sold that zen and brought a Swift VXi ABS.

If you are so much particular about Power Steering then I think it would be better if you trade your car for a brand new or a second hand Esteem VXi. Because even if you get a Power steering assembly for free and in case the fitting is not done properly you would end up spending more time in the garage than on road....

Vijay

yeah even i enquired with MASS in hyderabd. same story. its too costly.

Thanks for the replies... it is good to keep it as is then:) ...

Basically, U'll need power-steering pump, the steering box and a highyly skilled installer.

It's not worth the money to add PS at a later stage !

Thanks guys... instead i can go for CNG kit in such a price... where in South Delhi is the best CNG kit provider (authorised)

Well, Do not get discouraged easily . I think it should not cost you more than 4-5 k and the labour should cost you around 2000 . This would be the price at chennai to get a similar thing done . Just try the chor bazar ,plus esteem is by no means a best seller now ,so the chor bazzar guys will be much easier to deal with

I have a maruti esteem LX - 2004. I want to fix a power steering. Does maruti has a OEM supply ? Please help me with this info ? Is it worth doing it ?

I don't think fitting an Electronic Assisted Steering would be an easy job.
You will also have to take account the ECU parameters for it.
Not an easy job but may be someone who has done it can help.
Or you could enquire about it at the Authorized Service Center
