I have a swift Vdi without optional ABS since the waiting period for ABS fitted Vdi was around 6 months. I have opted for 2 years extended warranty which takes the total warranty period to 4 years. I prefer to keep my warranty since my experiences with my previous vehicle(Ford Ikon Flair) taught me to keep the warranty valid. One thing I miss in my vehicle is the absence of ABS since I would love to drive at above 100KPH along the NH. I am from a place where it torrential rains are common for half of the year and to properly maneuver the vehicle at such high speeds require an ABS system.

My questions are,
Is it possible to fit an ABS system on to Swift Vdi?
is it safe to fit an ABS system out of the factory?
Does it void my warranty if I get it done by MASS?
How much would it cost?
What are the things to remember when I get it done?

Thanks and I appreciate your suggestions.

Is it possible to fit an ABS system on to Swift Vdi? Not yet
is it safe to fit an ABS system out of the factory? No
Does it void my warranty if I get it done by MASS? Yes
How much would it cost? It cant be done and if somebody is willing to then it wont be less then 30k
What are the things to remember when I get it done? Give it someone who has done it many times before.

Answer to your question is in the post you quoted wise *** :p

We are way O/T !!

I have a vdi without abs and asked maruti if I can get it installed on my car at a later date. the details of the conversation are mentioned below. Read through

Dear Sir,
We do not recommend retrofitment of ABS in non-ABS vehicle, since it
needs most of the electrical parts like instrument panel, wiring
harness, Engine control module, brake pipes etc of vehicle to be
replaced in order to do so.

My querry was :

Details : I have just purchased a Swift Vdi without ABS. I want to know
whether ABS can be installed on my car in the future? If not I would
appreciate if I get to know what is the technical aspect which stops the
ABS to be installed afterwards?

But here is some interesting information. I enquired the same thing from a maruti expert in my hometown who owns a showroom there. He said it can be done but it will be costly. It is better to sell of the car and get a new one. I am planning to do the same as I have felt the need for abs because I frequently drive on the highways and invariably on every trip there has been one occassion when my wheels have locked!
