just loosen the screw and turn the clamp so that screw faces in the other direction, will have to do some aerobics move to get to the screws though :)
And that aerobics coupled with some gymnastics is what is deterring me..:)

Ohoo GD sahab u dont have to worry about all that, im always open to improvisions!
Yeah the last bend on the flexpipe gets avoided, however in the stock connecting pipe the forward part of the piece really narrows down to a vertical slit for the air intake. That opening is a little smaller in area comparison to the opening available in the flex pipe which acts as a kind of a restrictor to the volume of air that can pass through. Im not 100% sure about this but you might want to check on it since i dont have any scorpios at my disposal very often.
I see your point Arush. Lemme check this out and then I shall revert on the conclusion. Maybe then we can think of something better method of proper cold air intake..

A minor query about the filter. I noticed a small slanting hole on the casing of the filter. It was not a damage or a puncture but a neatly placed & painted hole as OEM.
Can anybody enlighten as to what is that hole for?
when you take off the top casing of the filter for cleaning youll need to loosen the screw inside that hole to take out the filter itself.
sorry for being an ignorant is the glx a diesel one? if so heard the diesel ones if fitted with performance filters makes lot of noise. how about your scorpio?
akshay pointed it out right. Thats hole the opening for the screw to take the cover off when the filter requires cleaning.

No no arush sir. The top cover comes off by pressing the green logos on both sides. The screw loosens the metal bracket thingy on the bottom of the filter. Once loose the filter slides off the bottom part off the filter assembly.

The only petrol model of Scorpio is called Rev116 and has no variants except for 4WD.
Rest all models are diesels - Dx, GLx, SLx, Lx etc.
Now coming to performance filters, I too had heard the same story, but immediately after fitment when the engine was started, I didn't hear any change in engine sound.
My pickup has increased, engine is a bit silent and smoother, pulling in lower gears has increased and no perceptible change in FE; on the contrary the FE has fallen than what I used to get earlier.
It could be coz due to more pickup and pulling power I'm flooring the pedal. But I shall give some more time to FE thingy to check out properly and then report..

might i suggest routing the intake pipe to the stock location as shown in the below pic..i think this setup would reduce the number of bends..
if the filter is placed in the place where badboyscad has pointed out there would be a lot of noise.
