I read somewhere on this forum that installing speakers on the hatch door was not a good idea as it would put some pressure on the hatch door. Is that right? How I wish that the Alto had some provision (like the rear speaker frames on the Santro) to install two rear speakers WITHOUT having to put them either on the parcel tray or on the Hatch door. If there is any way to install the rear speaker frames like the ones on the Santro, please let me know. |
That is where the MGA fellows install it for the Alto. They refused to install it on the parcel tray even when I offerred to get sturdier ones from outside. The boot door goes up slower than usual due to the weight of the speakers, and I help it up slightly with my hand!:) The rear speaker sound is a bit muffled due to the parcel tray, and I have to balance by turning down the volume of the front speakers a bit and turning up the rear ones. Whenever I am driving without the parcel tray, I have to equalize them. No issues apart from this.
If, on the other hand, I had iced it up outside instead of MGA, I could have installed on a thicker parcel tray. But then it
may void my electrical warranty, and the parcel tray will not be removable as well.

I don't this theres any other way to install it. I have installed a box in my alto with a woofer and 2 xplod speakers.
Hi I have installed 2 sony explod speakers on my original MGA parcel tray(with bill) in 2004 and not facing any problems whatsoever...BTW I listen to Iron Madien... so thats pretty lout too without any problems.
Another method is to replace the hatch door pad with a thicker one available at any Maruti dealer for around Rs 600. But you need to put a 30 to 40 mm hole on the pad to let the air out. This has worked perfectly fine for me for close to 2 years.

This is how they do it in MGA for installing the rear speakers. They said the original parcel tray can't stand up to the weight of the speakers.

Cool! :thumbs up
You could also make turn indicators on ORVMs by fixing these strips under the ORVMs. I'm planning to do that next Jan in my Alto. Major issue will be running wires to the ORVM.
How much does the tachometer cost? Any ideas?

hey harish, i got mine for around 4000 two years ago, it has a shift light as well. have posted it in the tacho thread. the price i guess should vary according to the size, brand and extra functions that the tacho has. hope this helps.
bOoM!
My alto got some cosmetic treatment for this ayudha pooja.:D
Black window frames, painted calipers & rear drums.

badboyscad : Good work !
What's the cost breakup ?
bbs nice work there , however a small tinge of blue is to be seen on the B-pillar. Was the doors open by any chance or you forgot to cover it up ?

you should have painted the door frames like i did.
