Team-BHP - Palio Brake Upgrade

Hi moralfibre i just took my car from the service station.this is the old tvs service station in udupi-it now services all cars and not only fiats after tata took over the service of fiats.but they still do a better job than the tata-fiat service centre.

The mechanic was honest enough to say he had no idea about it as he had not yet done such a job in the past.he said we can try it out,but as Red pointed out it would mean i have to purchase the whole kit and take it to him which would mean waste of money if it is a failure!!

Wilwood has nothing for the Palio.

Nor does EBC , red, yellow, or green. I have tried to match up the Palio pad with everything in the EBC catalog with no luck.

Who is N1 ?

I have checked with Arush at Autopsyche doe not have anything for the Palio either.

Hello!! Any updates on the topic please: I'm having a tough time with the brakes in my Palio GTX. I just did a complete servicing on the brakes with a change in brake pads and everything, and it hasn't helped much.. Could someone suggest a good option to improve the braking in Palio as I'm playing with fire everytime I brake at speeds beyond 100 kmph..

Hi,

Both Wilwood & D2 Racing have solutions for all cars. Its just a matter of knowing what to order.

No they do not have solutions for "all cars".

But, since you seem to be the expert on 'knowing what to order', please do post the appropriate parts for the Palio brakes.

Personally, Unless a part is specifically designed for a car, I wouldn't mix and match different car parts on a certain car. Because Most times when parts are almost the same,the difference in design shows up under slightly spirited usage and becomes a problem and just money down the drain.

I looked at the link that you posted, and I am not sure that these brake discs will offer much of a benefit over stock ones.

Slotted and/or cross-drilled rotors may help in high performance applications where disc overheating is an issue. But this does not seem to be the problem for the Palio. The Palio needs brake pads with a higher coefficient of friction. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find any aftermarket pads.

As I have posted earlier, my conclusion for living with the Palio brakes is to maintain them meticulously. This means resurfacing the rotors, using the best quality brake pads available through Fiat, making sure that the caliper pins are not sticking, flushing new DOT 4 brake fluid, and do the same for the rear brakes.

Hi Guys,

Am looking out for a brake liner(rear wheel - drum) for my 1.6 GTX(with ABS). was told by the dealer that brake liner for ABS is different from the other ones. Is this true?

He also told me that it is hard to get brake liner for the ABS type. I tried calling up concorde motors in bangalore and they seem to be not aware of this and said they will check.

I need to do this at the earliest possible as without changing the liner it seems like not possible to take it for a drive in city/long drives

hello friends i have a fiat petra 1.6 done 83000km .now i also find its braking little weak. got my regular service done and the bite has improved a little but still not upto the mark .i got the brake pads changed last year.
what can be done to improve the braking .
do u know of any after marked brake pads which are better than oem.
when does one need to change the brake discs .or drum linning changed
