Got the Narva 100/90s for my Xeta this evening. Had to pay Rs 300 for the parking lights. A total of Rs.1600 - expensive??

The first thing I noticed is that the light is not as "sharp" (if i can call it that) as the golden one - there is a lot more spread but i feel that the intensity is slightly less.
This is especially evident with the presence of the yellow light around.
But I must add that the high beam is pretty good!!:)

I tried the Philips Rallyeye 100/90 on one side and this clearly beats the Narva in terms of usable light, but i wanted white lights, atleast for some time.

Will be driving out of town during the weekend, will share my thoughts about the highway performance when back.

Thanks a lot for all the advice guys!!

I found Philips Rally 90/100 with yellowish tint better than white light bulb of same power, on my Santro.
(do not remember the brand/model - did see as a test at accessory shop. Since I was not happy with white light I did not bother to note it)
BTW, it costed Rs.1,100/- for me which included Philips Rally 90/100, relay and wiring. Installer did splice the wires on too many places (guess that much is required for a install) but so far I experienced no issues (15000Kms).

my matiz comes with Osram 60/55 H4 and I have not changed them since I got the car 7 yrs ago. Now I would like to upgrade. However do not want to change the wattage (added hassles of cutout etc). - any suggestions for a brighter, better spread and thow of light? Thanks

Folks,
Just changed the existing Philips 100/90 to Halonix 100/90 +60.
The difference is obvious.Much better throw.
Thanks experts for the rating.

Osram silverstar +50% or vision +30% are good options. Bosch also makes a +30% bulb, but I have no experience with it.

drhari15, Philips crystal vision and Blue vision produces white light. Did you try that before getting Narva.

Hi,
I want to upgrade head light on my getz. Suggestions please..

:OT : How easy/good is it to change the OHC Type 1 headlight assembly to the Type 2 clear type? Costs involved? PLEASE ADVISE WITH COSTS.

Not sure about it Ankit but I think the Type I & Type II OHC's have a different bonnet since the headlight shape differs, the fenders could be different too. You would have to see them side by side to determine whether the headlights would fit without major mods. I've seen a Type I with Type II front & rear here in moradabad but I think that car had a major accident job done & so he got it done alongside.

The Type II headlights cost around 3.5k each.

Ok Ankit, I just compared some pics & here is what all you'll need to replace to fit the Type II headlights.

Bonnet
Both front fenders
Front Bumper
Grill
Both Headlights

So your call, since you'd know the approx. prices of all these parts I suppose.

Narva 100/90 on my Xeta:

Just got back from my trip. The experience with Narva on the highways was SCARY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Went straight to the shop first thing in the morning and got Phillips Rally 90/100, will change my headlights now.

Guys, my advice:buy the white lights only if you must and only if you intend to drive in town. Highways is a BIG no no, I would say it is dangerous even.

The white light illuminates the road in a "gentle" fashion with good spread. But it does not "hit" the roads..just "falls" on the road. With even a bike from the other side, the road becomes invisible, let alone the dumb truck drivers and some cars, literally!!!!!

No more white lights for me - bluevision, crystal vision, diamond vision, narva et.al.

drhari15, if only you had seen the comparison pics with Halonix +60 and Narva 100/90W
Narva = 250/bulb, Halonix = 90/bulb

Ah, yes TSK, I had gone through the entire thread over a couple of days before my decision. I had seen the pics posted by you.

It was quite evident that Philips Rally / Halonix+ series were better.agree:

But i was somehow fascinated by the white lights and wanted to have one.

What I did not know was how big the difference would be!!!!

My conclusion...White lights are great to "be seen", definitely not to "see".

This thread has been extremely helpful, I had no idea about Lights before I dropped in here!!

I have now changed my lights to Philips Rally 90/100, as I couldnt find Halonix. I feel much better (and safer) now!!!!!

Note from mod: More than 2 smileys not allowed per post. Please go through the rules and announcements forum

Good for you drhari. Hope your driving experience improves now :)

PS: maybe you could type in regular, not bold throughout?

Damn:Shockked:

That's a lot of change and will cost quite a bit for a simple conversion. It's out of question, will just get brand new Depo assemblies then I think.

good effort to show the VARIATIONS in throw & intensity. thanks for PICS
