I picked up Delvac MX for SwifDy on saturday from M/S Speedway - was quite a drive taking about 2 hours to Minerva Circle from KRPuram - costed me 1050Rs for 5L. Thanks Jaggu.

I was later told by Prasad, who works at Speedway, that he does door/near-by delivery sometimes.

marlinspike,

As for the oil, why don't you buy it from the Mobil 1 distributer here in BLR, you will get it a lot cheaper especially if you buy in bulk.

Cheers,
gpa

Hi GPA,
Please let me know where can I get it direct from distributor.

I got Shell helix ultra 1ltr @ 1015 + taxes @ OMR next to Big Bazaar for my Activa (had cold start issues and switching off in signals)

Thanks gpa, I believe it will be very useful for Bangalore T-bhpians.

Can anybody tell me where to source Mobil1 5W-50 and flush (would OWS be good?) for my Getz, in Mumbai? Preferably Opera House or town side?

Please mention expected prices as well. I will instruct my mechanic to procure for me so exact names would be very helpful.

You can switch to fully synth directly.

10W30 should be used only if Maruti is recommending it explicitly for general use (at all ambient temps). Don't know whats the recommendation for Wagon R. In SX4, etc., I believe you can use... not sure about Wagon R. please check. Else 10W40 or 20W40 is best. Wont recommend xW50 unless you have a real good reason for doing so.

I changed engine oil in my Swift D to Mobil Delvac MX. Now the engine has really become smooth within 50 km of drive. I am just loving it.

The oil grade for santro xing is 15W 40 and i think the same grade is not available in Mobil1, Which grade can i go for? is it fine to use other grade than the manufacturer recommended?

You can use <almost anything> W40.

Is this the only recommended grade or is there a chart based on ambient temperatures? If not, then I'd stick to the recommended grade.

Take a look at the owners handbook. This normally still carries the table. Barring a few high end cars most (Hyundai for sure) recommend an upper value of 40 or 50 SAE (you can use either) for the conditions prevailing in our country. If you live int he upper reaches of the Himalayas you may be able to get away with a thinner oil.

Some of the modern engines may be happy with 30. In general you should use the lowest SAE rating acceptable, to have the thinnest oil in the crankcase without risking a lube film breakdown to get the best economy, though IMHO SAE 40 or 50 hardly matters as long as the engine is happy with at least SAE40!.

I checked with the service guys at the time of oil change and they said it is 15w 40 not sure whether it is mentioned in the manual
