I have no idea what logic Amazon is using for this. All I can say is that the API specs say the oils you're using aren't suitable and even a mineral CI4+ will be a better choice. The ones I recommended are known good.

Thanks for a very quick response.

I am looking for fully synthetic oil. So my current synthetic oil is also not the right oil since it's CF?

When I just looked up these 2 oils on Amazon, both Mobil Delvac 1 and Amsoil 5w40 is appearing as NOT fit for Mahindra Scorpio engines. Not sure why?

At the same time, shell rimula r4 is coming as fit for Scorpio.

Thanks again.

I am planning to go for Amsoil 5w40. Any suggestions to get it in Bangalore? Is the contact of Jatin you had shared is good enough?

Thanks for all the help here.

There is a distributor in chennai that I use. I am trying to get a bangalore based distributor if any or else the Chennai chap can accept a bank transfer and book your oil as cargo on KPN or other travels and you can pick it up from their booking office that is closest to you.

If you are going in for Amsoil use https://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-produ...sel-oil-5w-40/ this grade. It is CK4 backwardly compatible to oils above CF.

There is a regular ck4 they have 5w40 turbo truck. The signature series ones with the extra long drain interval need regular filter changes if you're to use them to the specced drain interval, and are quite expensive too.

Since I'm now in Bangalore, I got it from their Chennai distributor.

Thanks for sharing! Couldn't get in touch with the contact given.

Ended up buying Mobil1esp 5w30; bought 9 litres (4+4+1) of oil as 1.6 MJD needs 5.2 litres. Balance shall be used in ANHC.

Got it for 900/ ltr, import date is one year old and country of origin is France; shall be getting the oil changed at Nexa service in the next week. Let's see how it works out for both the cars.

I expect with EVs oil requirements will reduce and may even vanish.

Cars with motors on each side are not going to need any oil, but the single motor per axle systems may need some heavy oil in the Diff.

Who is the amsoil distributor in Bangalore? Any leads?

I have been using the motul 8100 xcess 5w40. Motul 8100 X-cess 5W-40 API SN/CF... https://www.amazon.in/dp/B01M0EKZ75?...p_mob_ap_share

It was a great experience. Way better than delvac. Contemplating a move to the amsoil 5w30 signature series. The car is a 2012 Ford Figo 1.4 diesel.

I have been using amsoil for my versys 650 the past few years and the experience has been nothing short of fantastic.

Drop a mail to greaves, they respond very fast. I ordered via Amazon but they messed up and cancelled the order at the time of delivery on their own. As per Delhi Distributor, Diesel signature series in 5W30 is currently on back order with overseas. They do have 5W30 signature and all variants of 5W40.

Here’s the ID

Can anyone comment on these oils -

http://www.amazon.in/ZIC-TECH-FULLY-.../dp/B01D6BXJRU

The page states that it is a Korean brand and has some proprietory high viscosity that makes it ideal for cars. Sells rather cheap.

ZIC X7 5W30 API SN VHVI TECH. FULLY SYNTHETIC ENGINE OIL 4 LITER CAN - RECOMMENDATIONS: Gasoline/CNG/LPG engines
Price: 1,700
Sale: 1,122 + 199.94 Delivery charge
You Save: 578 (34%)

And there's this -

http://www.amazon.in/Mobil-ESP-5W-30.../dp/B00SFNNTSE

Mobil 1 ESP 5W-30 Synthetic Motor Oil (4 L)
M.R.P.: 5,500
Price: 4,075 FREE Delivery. Details
You Save: 1,425 (26%)

While the Mobil is a sweet looking deal, this page seems to show that Zic is an OEM for General Motors. Worth a try or not? The reviews on Amazon seem genuine and positive

I gave my 14 yr old to a local garage for servicing. He put Zic fully synthetic without asking. He didnt charge anything exorbitant for it but the engine is running pretty smooth. Much smoother than in the last few years.
Not much of a change in the mileage numbers.
I don't much about motor oils so can't comment more than this.

They have a chap in Chennai who I guess can ship it to you using say KPN parcels.

Rajagopal / 98233 49676

The last distributor I used was in Coimbatore but he seems to have moved on from Greaves.

I used Zic before shifting to Amsoil, found performance better than the recommended grade from Castrol which the authorized dealers were using.
The signature series Amsoil is even better.

A good oil should have high VI, high TBN and SAP. Xcess is one such oil (172, 10.mg, 1.1%). Helix Ultra does not give out VI, TBN & SAP in their datasheet. Mobil Delvac 1 has even higher TBN 12 and SAP 1.35 but lower VI 151. Higher the TBN longer the oil can resist acid formation and usually more for long drain oils like Delvac 1, but insignificant in passenger cars because of shorter drain periods of 10000 to 15000KM. It is said that higher the viscosity index the better it is for lubrication.

Unbelievably, the xcess from motul trumps the 5w30 from amsoil in all parameters.

Amsoil diesel 5W30 (XCESS numbers in brackets)
VI 162 (172)
TBN 10.1 (10)
SAP 0.91 (1.1).

I reckon will stay with xcess with a 10k interval.

How is this oil treating you Sankar so far?

I am in similar dilemma. My Landcruiser LC200 has done about 50000 kms and i am looking for better synthetic oil. I am looking for 15w 40 as Pune is not that cold. Which engine oil you recommend between Mobil 1 ESP or Amsoil Signature 15w 40 or Toyota recommended synthetic.
Thanks

Amsoil Turbo Truck 5w40 should be fine for your purposes. The Toyota synthetic oil is an a5/b5 5w30 as far as I can see, which they pour for everything from Etios to Fortuner and Landcruiser.
