Harison Enters ATV market with ‘FUNTY’

India gets its first locally built ATV, hope they perform well too. I shall love to buy one of these FUNTY's and go to office on it.

Harison, an Indian company with presence in the water pump and crushing machine market have now entered the All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) market with their FUNTY range which includes 4 models.

The market for ATV’s in India, though still fractional when compared to other countries, is at a rise and Harison wanted to make full use of being one of the early birds in the ATV market. Till now we have only a few companies selling ATV’s in India like Adventure Wheels, Polaris, etc.
‘Our target is to provide the Indian customers with very affordable All terrain vehicles, which could entertain and perform very close to the other extremely expensive options of ATV in the market’ says a Harison spokesperson.

The 4 models in the Funty range vary from 50cc to 200 cc and are namely Junior (50cc), Striker (110cc), Fighter (150cc) and Terminator (200cc). The ATV’s provide to a wide range of customers right from children to adults. The Funty range would for now be available only in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat and Goa through authorized dealerships but expansion to other states for wider availability is surely on the cards.

A special ‘Loan and Exchange’ mela has also been organized by the company from 13-15th June 2011 at Digambar Naik Hall, Kothrud, Pune where new customers can avail special loans to finance a Funty or exchange their old ATV for a new one at special discounts.

With newer companies and products entering the yet unexplored segments of the Indian automotive scene, it’s good to see an overall development, something recreational and different.

Funty range of ATV models

1) Funty Junior

50 cc single-cylinder, 2.2kW, 4-stroke air-cooled engine, CVT transmission
Intended for kids
Rugged tubular chassis and a central mono-suspension
Ignition water protector and tubeless tyres

2) Funty Striker

110 cc single-cylinder, 4.6 kW, 4-stroke air-cooled engine, three forward and one reverse gear transmission
Automatic clutch
Puncture-resistant tyres
Instrumentation includes a digital meter with a gear indicator, tachometer, odometer, speedometer, trip meter, battery voltage, petrol indicator
Front suspension comprises twin suspension, while rear is central mono-suspension

3) Funty Fighter

150 cc single-cylinder, 7.2 kW, 4-stroke air-cooled engine
Auto-gears, anti-theft lock, front dual disc brake
Unique feature- Combo brake control and a combo brake lock, the rear has a centralised disc brake
Suspension made up of twin gas filled dampers at dampers at front
Capable of seating 2, it has a handy front and reverse shift lever with auto clutch

4) Funty Terminator

200 cc single-cylinder, 11.5 kW, 4-stroke air-cooled engine
Rugged tubular chassis, Front dual disc brakes, rear centralised disc brakes,
High-tensile rough and tough chain
Anti-theft lock, water-proof fuel tank, puncture-resistant tubeless tyres
4 speed gears and one reverse gear
Central mono-suspension, gas-filled twin suspension

Just got a confirmation from Harison, their Funty Terminator ATV costs about 2.6 lakhs on Road. Is it a good price for this ATV? I somehow feel that these are Chinese Manufactured ATV's. Cannot confirm but feel so.

50cc ATV for kids, sounds like fun. Perhaps some of the farmhouses on city outskirts can buy a bunch of these and offer rides for kids on a few trails. Major brain fart in naming the product - Funty?? Like Fun-aunty??

Doesnt work. 2,2kw is about 3hp. That is a lawnmower with an auto's weight. Complete and utter #fail.

The 150/200cc ones are the models which should be brought to market at a competitive price! Time for a TBHP official Funty drive?
