LoL man, What's your point? There are no geared scooters out there anymore.

Step out of your house and look at how many males are happily driving Activas.

Well thats the definition of retro.

Forget Activa. You'd be surprised how many men ride Hero Pleasure singing 'Why should boys have all the fun'.

I thought Vespa is defenitly female. But somehow the female friends/ family I have seems to highly disapprove! One look at the auto expo pictures (on this thread) and all i got was comments of - 'It looks like an old scooter!'.

Re: Piaggio Vespa @ Auto Expo 2012

Well, they do look nice but I don't discern much "retro" there. I might have wanted one if they had the real classic looks.

They will sell more than the Mahindra nee Kinetic, but nowhere near the Activa numbers. Not even close to the Access numbers. When it comes to small displacement engines, whatever the Europeans can do, the Japs will do better.

Re: Piaggio Vespa @ Auto Expo 2012

Make it for the masses, price it correctly, tune it to have a fine balance between power and mileage, let spares be reasonably priced and then see the numbers. This scooter will sell like hot cakes. It is easily the best looking scooter around. Slotting it as a premium lifestyle product won't cut it. Piaggio should perhaps launch their 250+ cc models for the premium segment. This one is for the masses. I love it and would definitely like to buy one.

The geared scooter category has been completely replaced by bikes. Agree that males are happily riding activas (including me) but that is why I mentioned it is not their primary vehicle. Even my activa is primarily used by my wife while I occassionally use it when I feel too lazy to use the car for going to the neighborhood kirana shop.

Exactly my point too.
And the broader point is: Lets wait and see whether it is accepted by females.
