TVS + BMW = Husqvarna in India?

An exciting piece of news if this comes to pass. Lets hope they get going on this quickly.

I found this quote pretty cool too:

It's indeed exciting. But, cruel as it might sound, clean-floors do not win enthusiast's heart or money!

Even if TVS joins hands with BMW, lets say today, it will take a good amount of time for them to come up with something substantial. And by that time, I am very sure, the competition will be in a different timezone. Bajaj, KTM, Honda, Yamaha...all big players are on a roll at present. TVS+BMW+Husqvarna have to quicken-up if they want to be in the contention...

TVS to finalise a partnership with BMW soon.

Chennai-based TVS Motor Co today said it expects to finalise before the end of the ongoing fiscal a partnership with BMW for collaboration in two-wheelers.

"Talks are on (with BMW) and we expect something to materialise before the end of the ongoing fiscal," TVS Motor Co President (Marketing) HS Goindi told reporters here.

Good news for bike lovers! According to the article below, it seems an announcement should be made soon after things are finalised on the 8th of April 2013 between our very own TVS Motors and BMW (Motorcycles).

Though this pairing seems like a very odd alliance, lets wait and see what goodies it brings to the Indian public. I think its fair to say that a golden era for bike lovers is about to begin in the near future considering the number of world class products heading to India via tie ups with domestic brands. And more importantly offering them at realistic prices. Be it KTM, Kawasaki and now BMW.

should be a win -win proposition for both since BMW also has a plant in chennai and sundar Clayton / TVS group being a major OEM player in auto industry could help in certain amount of localizied production or CKD assembly

TVS and BMW sign cooperation agreement-Finally its on papers..They are looking to manufacture bikes under 500-cc which is a super kool option.

Saw statement given by TVS motors on BMW tie up. While the talk regarding developing new products (under 500cc) will sure excite bikers, I beleive this deal will do little to help TVS acheive volumes in domestic industry. I have always beleived that TVS had problems with marketing. Engineering has always been one of their strengths. This deal will help them little with branding and marketing considering the fact that deal is for only joint development. Thereafter, both partners would produce their own variants and sell these using their own distribution network in India and abroad.

BMW on the other hand will leverage the TVS expertise in small capacity bikes (where they have minimal exposure).
