primary reduction and secondary reduction

hello folks,
what is primary as well as secondary reduction, plz... provide detail stuff , and what it's importance.

who knows reduction better than you?

you reduced your post to such a short thing even the rear overhangs of Smart looks much more bigger than that!

well, is it about the reduction of gear ratios or else?

well, can't give the exact details because even i've forgotten, but here goes the gist- forgot whether they are right, though;

primary ratio/reduction- the ratio between the clutch shaft/input shaft idle gear and the idle gear on the layshaft.
secondary ratio/reduction- the ratio between the drive gears of the layshaft and the output shaft (1st gear, 2nd gear, etc.)
final drive ratio/reduction- the ratio between the output shaft revolutions and the differential revs. (in case of cars; in case of bikes, the ratio between the front sprocket and the rear sprocket).

the differential has reductions too....
