Awesome pics and a very nice review. Good you got the bike for a day and could explore its abilities. Few doubts:

Refinement: Since the power is stacked up higher in the rev range, is it smooth all the way till there or do any ugly vibes creep in once you hit the higher band?

Handling: From the write up, i could make out the handling though not stellar, is acceptable. Is this the case?

Headlights: Is the throw and illumination good for the highways/e-ways? Duke lamps are just acceptable and not very good as per reports on the forum.

Tyres: Did you get to test the grip levels in wet? Guess they are fine for dry tramac.

No vibes. I didn't hit the rev-limiter but was very close to the red-line, but I couldn't notice any vibe. The engine was smooth & willing to touch the limiter.

The riding position and or my frame were limiters here. I believe it is better than the CBR cousins, but short from the Yamaha brothers. If tires were swapped, it would be a good bike for track-day outings.

Would wait for other Team BHP ians like you to shed more light upon this.

Just about average. Was reading through ACI's test ride impression & was flummoxed to find them reporting good illumination.

I stand by what I said. Does the job.

They should have roped in MRF and should have asked them to design tires keeping R15's compound in mind. It would have been brilliant. It was a fairly new bike with 5-6kms on the odo when I started riding. With all things new, it seemed adequate.

Under Braking the tires did the job very well. Imagining what it will do with softer compounds.

Brilliant review!

Loved the way the new front fender looks, design is damn impressive and the bikes looks aerodynamic. I wonder if the third spark plug would add into better combustion and better FE.

Great pictures and review. But honestly I think the rear lower level mudguard is the only sore point in that. A performance bike and the mudguard makes it look like a Luna. Most people will remove the lower mudguard upon delivery I think. At least I would have done! Otherwise a cool looking bike with a performance to match. I hope it's much more refined than the earlier versions, and the gearbox is a non issue. (Most of my friends who had earlier versions of the Pulsar, have reported some kind of gearbox problems sooner or later in their ownership.)

Does this version also come only with a button start? I always wonder, if somewhere out in the wild country, if the battery gives up on you, how would you start your bike?

In contrary have a look at Manson's CBR. The tire is huge, the mud guard is short, despite that it saves the back side (of both ) and looks aesthetically pleasing.

More than mud guard design, I think the difference is due to the tire thread pattern.

Starting the bike in wilderness? It sure is easier than starting a Car or a SUV, don't you agree?

My bikes have come without kick start for the past 6 years now. So much so that I have forgot how to kick one to bring it to life. I was kicking a RTR yesterday like the Escorts Rajdoot 175, building compression. LOL

No issues, if you keep a tab on the battery like in a 4 wheeler. Easier than that though.

More than mud guard design, I think the difference is due to the tire thread pattern.

The mud guard design I believe should have been finalized prior to selecting the vendor and tread pattern.

If they give this excuse, it will be a sorry one. I believe none of the manufacturers use this horrendous design. And if (doubt it though) it is designed because of the tread pattern, they better change it.

Checked out a colleague's bike last evening. I did not ride it but sat on it and also switched on the headlamps etc. The riding position felt spot on for me (6'0, 72kgs) at least when stationary. Headlamp was misaligned so could not make out much. Build quality looked leagues ahead of the older pulsars. Much liked the console though the back light could have been a different shade. Engine felt very refined when idling without any vibes (bike had run about 250 odd kms) and hardly audible (though i have to confess that it was a crowded street with maddening traffic on the road). Somehow that tyre hugger looks so out of place on the bike that it seems like an after thought by Bajaj.

Shall test ride one over the weekend as I am eager to know how this behaves in motion.

Yup, it was indeed carb's piston. The piston had few scrub marks on it, and was bit hesitant to come down from fully open position.

Great write up. But dont you feel that the front headlamp design is a but fussy . Will the low placed exhaust cope with rain-water stagnated roads ?

What about false neutral and vibrations > 60 speed, my current P-180v2 is really bad with vibrations.

I must have visited this thread and the Pulsar 200 NS website at-least 10 times today. I liked the bike very much after reading the review and seeing the pictures. Strange that on the website, they don't show the rear lower mudguard. And as niv26 has said, many of my friends have reported false neutrals, so even I am curious as to how this bike fares in this area.

Indeed a great move by BAL & it really adds a another level of Mania to the existing Pulsar brand range.

But what about the set of weaknesses or Niggles, which new BAJAJ bikes are always famous for !
-Are they absent in P200 NS or are again the part of it, like other BAJAJ products.

I saw one next to my car yesterday, and frankly the paint job (it was a yellow bike) was pathetic. In looks department, I think its front (head like portion) is superb but the side views were disliked by me personally. I would prefer a FZ-16 with old orange colour anyday, but with higher performance.............

Driving today to work, I was behind a guy on a NS for quite some distance. Good rider. Was cutting through the traffic quite competently and the bike looked planted. The hugger does look weird from behind though.

At the end of a long flyover (where you can easily touch 110and even 120 if you hit it with good speed) is a set of particularly vicious rumblers.

Our man was obviously not one who did this route regularly because he saw them late, and braked hard. And the whole rear end just stepped out by a good foot before he got control.

Pretty similar to the Duke in the early days on concrete. Dry at that.
