Checked with Chennai.
Estimated delivery first or second week of September. The shipments may reach by this weekend and they need a weeks time or so to prepare for delivery.
Expect 5-6 bikes in the first lot and a little more in the second lot.
Total bookings around 50-55 is what the guy told and already few cancellations. |
Thanks for the good news. A colleague told me there's a new Ktm showroom in moggapair and there are only around 16 bookings for the 390 there.
The Moggapair one is pretty useless. I went there and those guys have no clue on delivery. The Adyar one is Jai and they atleast have some news around delivery and they have been delivering Ninja almost every week sticking to schedule.
The Moggapair one has not test rides and hardly have someone interested to sell a bike.
I prefer the Adyar one over the Moggapair one.
Seems it's started by KLN. We might get the delivery faster here than Adyar as the booking has crossed 100 at Adyar.
No Test Rides. But has a display KTM 390 and some 200's.
Booked the 390 on 10th August with Bund Garden KTM, Pune. Booking amount was 5000 INR though I was ready for the initial indicated INR 30k.
I guess my number must be around 100 or so with the dealership.
Have also booked TB 500 some time in April. Will mostly cancel that. Will keep the booking of TB 500 alive just to check who calls first KTM or RE :). Not sure if those who have booked duke 390 seen the waiting peiord caluse in the contract. It says "minimum 90 days". Atleast thats what my copy shows. So technically KTM/Bajaj can go beyond 90 days? Though I have a feeling they will clear lot of bookings by Sep end/Oct mid.
@Vtec
You will get it before 90 days. I am very sure the production will meet the demand in a months time.
This the first time I am waiting for anyone of the vehicles I purchased till date. Getting very very anxious. KTM better deliver fast.
Another KTM store is opened in Solaiyur, Tambaram, Chennai. It's run by the same Jai Auto as in Adyar. Heard they have 13 bookings already.
@Aks
Selayur Tamabaram works best for me. Its like ten minutes from my place and that makes it more interesting.
The first two lots will fullfill the first 5-6 bookings in cities. So if a city has more dealers, the number of bikes the dealer gets is going to be less.
The delivery promise will be kept which inturn means time till october for KTM to deliver.
@VW2010,
I am also close to the dealership. Heard it has both showroom and service centre. The guy Radhakrishnan- earlier KTM Manager @ Adyar is the Store Manager here. Hopefully we get a good service in future.
Heard from a friend that KTM will be providing Metzelers exclusively for 390 owners at a reduced price of approx 11.5k a pair, contrary to the initial speculation of 24k. But only 390 owners will be getting this subsidy.Can anyone confirm if this is true or not?
PS: First post on Team-BHP! :D

All 390 prospective owners are first expecting the bike. They are currently not worried about a replacement tyre that they may need after 10-14K run which is a long way at this point.
Welcome to BHP

Thanks VW2010. :)
Yes. You are right. But shouldn't this be an important point to be considered by any prospective buyers? Me being one of them.
As some one mentioned earlier in this thread, at 24K, the tire cost should alone contribute to around Rs 2/Km, considering it lasts for 12k Kms. And spending 24K on a brand new set of tires every year will be a point to think about. Atleast from my perspective as a tight budget-ed biker.

To be honest, the tyres apear costly because the bike is so cheap here. If the same bike were being sold for 4+ lacs as it is priced abroad, then 24K once a year would feel different. Especially since most guys abroad keep such bikes for max 2-3 years tops before upgrading.

Mate,
When we import tires obviously they would be murderously expensive right :). Do not see the 390 selling beyond a few thousands year on year, it will be a direct import. The other day you were recommending about the MRFs which come on the Duke 200 which will be a decent replacement but am sure its performance will hardly hold a candle to that of Metz.

Actually MRF are good tyres. Metz on the other hand enhances the grip levels. From the reviews of this tyre, they are pretty good in Wet. In Dry conditions the difference is not as big as justifying 24K for two tyres.
The difference in rain will be huge in METZ compared to MRF.
