KTM Indiranagar. I highlight the experience as average as there were no updates from them about anything on the bike in all of 90 days. There are a couple of other things I will bring to light at a later time. They have nothing to do with the bike, just the overall experience of the dealer.

Really sad in case of Kochi dealers. Called up for a TD, but reply was bike is on repairs. Will have to wait till Oct 15 for TD.

Booking has started, don't know what's the back log and how long is waiting period?

The situation is same here in Trivandrum. I had to wait for a week for test drive and I have booked the bike 2 months back and still wandering in the dark.

She came home. Finally!








BTW: there is no mud flap on the front wheel. The dealer claimed none of the bikes from Bangalore have it.

Congrats on the Duke sridhu! Is this the KTM showroom in BTM?

Mud flaps are not a part of the standard equipment I am sure. (the 200 never had any flaps either)

Guess the rubber sleeves over the fork seals are now stock. Would get them put on to my 200 as well.

I do not have a picture to upload right away. My KTM did come with the flexible rubber mud flap as an extension of the front mudguard. I suppose your dealer does not know about the existence of such a thing.

@sandeepmohan: From my experience, BTM has to be the worst. Really pathetic. Will raise a flap with them on the mudflap!

Here is an update for prospective buyers:-

The bike makes me sweat more. Be it the stationary heat or the heat from running slow in traffic. When i reach work i am pretty sure i am sweating more :)

My 500 feels like riding on oil spilled, granite floor when it comes to braking comparison. Mine is the old 500 with a 100% working disc brakes. Yet after riding the 390 for all these weeks the 500 suddenly feels slow to stop:). Thats how good 390 brakes are.


Have adjusted the play and position of gear levers but the brakes cannot be adjusted for position?(Or can it be???)

Personally i may start preferring the 500 for city rides and the 390 for anything that requires distance to cover in good time. I have already planned for a trip to trivandrum from Chennai shortly on the 390

I personally think the "flap" looks extremely ugly, and is a Bajaj afterthought on a KTM product/design. Much like the hugger/saree guard. I would never spoil the small bikini mudguard's looks by putting it on. Just wash the radiator more frequently. How tough is that?

Whoa! This is surprising to me at least. A couple of my friends got the 390 and I went back to the pics they posted on FB and couldn't see any mud flaps per se. Neither did the 200's come with that.

@Doc you havent seen the saree guard on the Ninja 650. Now, that defines an eyesore!



Re the mudflap: there are some locating holes on the bikini mudguard. So, may be standard.

BTW, they did not put on the guards either; insisted but they said some bolts are not there & to return tomorrow.

Reminded me of this joke:

Here is the picture.

Radiator is ok. But the engine guard has a crazy design of gaps that just collects all the mud and slime the tyre throws at it.

And cleaning the inside of the engine guard requires you to remove it and clean it which is a five minute job.

For those who spend time cleaning your bike SPOKES, yes bike spokes..you should not have a problem.(Old bikes and cycles and not alloy ones hehe)

For those who take it to service centre as part of service to clean the bike, you will find it difficult :)

Those slats are for air to go through and aid in cooling. I generally just use fingers and tothbrush and clean inside to the extent I can. And then flush with a well directed spray of water from the garden hose. The rest is cleaned during servicing. Never opened the belly pan myself. Anways mud on the casing is not going to greatly affect overheating. While that on the radiator finds (fully exposed) will. As an old time Bulleteer, you will soon appreciate how easy it is to gleam wash a Bullet compared to a Duke after a rain ride. :)

Actually it is attached by 6 screws and its no biggie to remove and clean. Gives you enough room to clean the entire front end of the engine as well as check for any oil leaks near the oil filter etc.


People think we clean bikes and cars to keep them spanking new, alternatively the reason i clean is to ensure everything is fine and i wake up before its too late.
