DSK to invest Rs. 400 crore in new facility near Pune

DSK Motowheels has revealed its plans to invest Rs. 400 crore to set up a new plant near Pune. The company intends to use this plant to manufacture Benelli and Hyosung motorcycles. The plant is expected to be ready for production in the next two years.

DSK's existing plant can produce, where Hyosung bikes are assembled, can churn out 3,000 units a year and has a single shift. Adding a second shift can take the capacity up to 5,000 units, which the company says is enough to meet the demand for a year.

The new plant will be located close to the current facility and will have a capacity of 1,20,000 units per shift.

DSK has been assembling and selling Hyosung bikes in India. Recently, the company tied up with Italian motorcycle manufacturer Benelli and showcased a range of bikes that it plans to launch in the country in the coming year. DSK also plans to introduce the Hyosung GD 250N and 250 R in March 2015.

The company plans to set up separate dealerships for Benelli.
