Hero Electric now looking at motorcycles; here's one in the pipeline

Hero has been in forefront of manufacturing electric scooters for sometime now and is considered to be a leader because of the resources that it has at its disposal. Hero Electric has now turned its attention to motorcycles of relatively high speed and Autocarpro.in has leaked a picture of the new motorcycle which is still in the development stage.

The said motorcycle has a motor that runs on 2000 watts of electricity generated from lead acid batteries of 240 volts. It has two vertically stacked headlights, LED lights and single shock absorber at the rear. The most interesting part are the tyres; chunky ones but fitted out on 12 inch wheels (that is the size of the wheels of the Wego). Obviously this motorcycle is still a long way from launch. It has a maximum speed of 60 kph and can run for 50 kms on a full charge. Given the fact that it exceeds the 250 Watt and 25kph speed limit it will need to be registered and the rider will require a licence.

Re: Hero Electric now looking at motorcycles; here's one in the pipeline

By the looks of it, this thing could be more of a mini bike. This particular one was a showcase at the International Engineering & Technology Fair (IETF).

The design in particular is oddly similar to that of the Honda MSX 125 Grom. If that is the case, this will be a quite a smart design, because you could easily fit this thing into the average apartment building's elevator and charge the 48V lead acid battery at home. Media reports say this thing could be showcased at the 2016 auto expo, though a lot of the features you mentioned will be skipped to price it better.

They just used the Honda MSX 125 as a donor bike.

All they did was strip the engine/gearbox out to make way for the batteries and put a Hub motor.
