Along with the Maestro Edge, Hero MotoCorp is gearing up to introduce another scooter in India. Called the Duet, this scooter is likely to be positioned against the Honda Activa-i.



The Duet is believed to be powered by a new 110cc engine that has been developed by Hero with inputs from AVL of Austria. This engine is a single-cylindern, air-cooled, aluminium unit that puts out 8-9 BHP. It will be mated to a CVT gearbox.



The images indicate that the Duet gets a handlebar-mounted headlamp with integrated turn-indicators, a V-shaped chrome insert on the front apron, black grab rail, telescopic front suspension and steel wheels. The side fenders sport "Duet" lettering and chrome inserts and the exhaust pipe has a silver cover.



Other features include a lockable storage compartment and silver surround for the instrument cluster.

The Duet is expected to be launched during the upcoming festive season.

BTW, I just don't like the headlamp design of Maestro Edge (Dash) and this one!
Looks a little too large!

On the other hand I saw the Yamaha Fascino in Cyan color in person yesterday and it looks Fascinating in real but ghastly in pictures so...you never know!

Interesting turn of events. Within the last 15-20 years, Bajaj has turned from a company known for scooters to exclusively selling motorcycles with a major focus on sporty and powerful machines (Pulsar range, KTM). On the other hand, Hero which was a pioneer in several segments (especially with CBZ and Karizma) has very little to excite the enthusiasts in its current lineup. I am still waiting for a 200-250cc version of Impulse.

Ah..!! The Mythical Impulse 200-250cc: Something which initial couple of hundreds / thousands (maybe) of enthusiasts would love to buy.

After which the common motorcycle customer would wonder why should be buy a weird looking motorcycle, one that looks thin/malnourished and has less/no "plastic muscle". Also one on which he can't carry his wife/mother pillion comfortably.

.. leaving the dealerships NOT ready to pick up fresh stocks.
