I believe it is being made in Ann Arbor, Michigan and Mahindra must be sourcing local suppliers out there to make this scooter. If they had to make it in India, there's a good chance it would need a lot of imported components, jacking up the price.
I think Mahindra-Two Wheelers would want to get its conventional models rolling out of showrooms first, before considering something like this for India. This has good potential in the US, but the $3K asking price will have to crash for it to be launched in India. I'm sure Mahindra is working on a low cost version, but we'll have to wait for a while to something of the sort to come over here.
