Rumour: Honda NXR 160 launch coming up

Honda NXR 160

After creating a segment in the Indian market, Hero Impulse soon died. One of the major reasons why the Hero Impulse failed to make a mark was its underpowered engine. One of the most subdued and neglected segment in the Indian two-wheeler market, the off-road enthusiasts have waited for a good fun motorcycle for a very long time. We believe that Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) will offer its NXR 160 to the segment which was created by the Hero Impulse in 2013.

The bike is already being sold in many international markets with a single-cylinder, air-cooled, 162.7cc engine delivering 14.6bhp of maximum power at 8,500rpm and 14.41Nm of optimum torque at 6,000rpm. The bike looks similar to the Hero Impulse, but promises to be better built and provide more excitement, both on and off the road. Expect the Honda NXR 160 to be priced around 73,000.

Re: Rumour: Honda NXR 160 launch coming up

First of all Impulse is not under powered bike. In USA people have Dirt bikes with 90, 100, 125 CC etc.,
There is an art to ride a Dirt bike over large obstacles, u need to lesrn to jump the bike shift the front or back wheel or both. Bike is not like a off road 4x4 that u sit in it and it does the rest, thats even not true coz to some extent u need to manover it around. We in India dont even know how to handle Dirt bikes and pass a Judgement that it is underpowered.
Kawasaki launched a 125 cc bike; say that they dont know a dam about bikes ! Impulse is a replica of Honda 150 Brother of Brazil, its successful there. Impulse is not Dead it is still being made. People of India mis-informed and this is the result. Please go to Utube Dirt bike jumping and see what people from other countries ( kids ) can do with even 125 cc bikes, more powerful bikes come with Add weight too.

Well - surjaonwheelz, its a decent performer off road.. check the video here:

And Amit, I sort of agree with Surja - sort of - because this is a dual purpose bike - and not a dirt bike only.. and if you have to get on the highway in India, with luggage and all stuff strapped on it - it needs to have power. Having said that, it still goes up to 129 kmph from the videos I have seen on youtube - which is pretty pretty decent.

If this comes in, it will be a very attractive proposition..

Power/Underpowered?

In that case how come a similarly powered (Underpowered) Yamaha FZ continue to sell handsomely?
