Lambretta L70 teased before launch!

http://indiatoday.intoday.in/auto/st.../1/658733.html

Its all over the news.

Has Scooter India lost the case? SIL has recovered from the BIFR. I also think they are entitled to receive royalties. The Lambretta Consortium seem to be just brand name thieves.

What happened to the case? Can a company launch a Lambretta scooter even when the case is on?

Update: It seems the Consortium has already lost the case against SIL, Motom and CLAG ( The latter two companies selling Lambretta products and scooters on license through a British company from Scooters India limited).

How can they still sell this L70? Look at the Lambretta website, it makes Scooters India look like the thief instead.

Re: Lambretta L70 teased before launch!

Hmmm, interesting. Not seen news of any settlement or agreement between the two. This is the last real update I've read:

Full Livemint Article

Quote:
Harry Willits, a spokesman at LLL, says the Indian government’s dominion over the Lambretta trademark is all but lost. “We’re pretty much in the end game now,” says Willits, also the in-house lawyer for LLL. “Meanwhile, (we’ve) paid £750,000 (around Rs5.7 crore) in defence of SIL’s trademark. SIL, as a sick company, has done absolutely not a jot to support (us) in their effort. All that time Lambretta SRL has been gaining more and more ground in the legal battle because of a long period of non-use (by SIL), who I’m assuming has no capacity, no money and no interest in a brand that is clearly valuable.”

SIL chairman, chief executive officer and managing director Ajai Kumar says SIL still owns the Lambretta trademark in India and abroad, and maintains that it is defending it—and has been doing so. He says that though SIL does not manufacture Lambretta scooters any more, it does make replacement parts bearing the brand’s name. He acknowledges a dispute with LLL, which, he says, owes royalties, but adds that they are in “dialogue” with the company and the issue will soon be “resolved”.

Steven Wilch, the managing director of LLL, says the company stopped paying royalties last year because it was spending so much money defending SIL’s trademark. “We call SIL once a week and we get zero response. One meeting would resolve all of this,” he says.

Here's proof that they have lost the court case and still persued with launching the brand scooter.

Re: Lambretta L70 teased before launch!

We all know about the teaser by Lambretta earlier this month about their new scooter launch.

http://www.lambretta.com/
Lambretta L70 teased before launch!-1.jpg

As per the teaser, It will be named as Vendetta L70.
it is expected in 3 engine options.
180cc!! 125cc and a 50cc
I was more interested in the 180cc as a next upgrade to our Vespa S125
Planning to change it after 30k Kms (its now around 16k Kms)

I browsed inside and it said that More details about L70 will be revealed after 19days from today (June 14th 2016)

Also It said that that by subscribing to their newsletter we stand a chance to win any 1 out of 5 new Lambretta's in 2016!
So 2016 will be a good year for Lambretta fans I guess

Re: Lambretta L70 teased before launch!

Surprised to see topic not discussed on TBHP!

Among the 70th anniversary celebrations of Lambretta, At the EuroLambretta 2017 at Adria, Italy, The Lambretta V-Special scooter was unveiled.
The scooter has been designed in collaboration with KISKA, the brand that designs KTM and Husqvarna bikes. The V-Special will be offered in three engine options and multiple colours.
The 3 variants are V50, V125 and V200.
  • The V50 is powered by a 49.5 cc, four-stroke, air-cooled engine making 3.5 bhp and a maximum speed of 45 kmph!
  • The V125 gets a 124.7 cc engine making 10 bhp and 9.2 Nm
  • The V200 is powered by a 169 cc engine which makes 12 bhp of power and 12.5 Nm of torque.
All the engines are Euro 4 compliant and get fuel-injection(except V50) and CVT gearboxes.

While the front suspension uses telescopic forks, the rear gets a monoshock suspension. All the variants get alloy wheels with 12” tyres.

The V50 gets a 110mm drum brake at the rear and 220mm disc brake at the front.
Both the V125 and V200 get 220mm disc brakes both at the front and rear.
The V200 additionally gets an ABS system from Bosch

The buyer can opt for fixed or free fenders based on his liking
It gets LED headlamps, tail lamps and indicators.

The international availability of the V-Special is yet to be announced.

I don't know what will happen in India especially because of the trademark lawsuit, But I loved this design. If at all it is launched by 2018 end, I might buy the 50cc scooter to replace my father's Activa

What's also interesting to me is a bluetooth symbol and a dish antenna kind of symbol on the cluster. Bluetooth is ok, but I wonder what that dish antenna symbol is

Re: Lambretta L70 teased before launch!

Hmm... I do not seem to be able to find any direction indicators (blinkers) on this scooter. The front seems to have something that could be just parking lights or could be blinkers, but there seems to be nothing of that sort in the rear.

One thing I like though, is that there is one scooter finally that actually looks like the scooters I grew up with instead of looking like something out of a moto-GP scene. This looks like the Vijai series of scooters of yore.

Cheers

The two vertical red strips are the indicators, IMHO. They seem to be tucked in as well, going by a few of the pictures.
