Each of us has our own preferences and opinions based on our taste and experiences, and that’s what makes motorcycling so personal and special. However, one key thing I’ve noticed through my experiences with these classics is that every motorcycle feels different depending on the condition it’s in. A poorly maintained bike can be a complete dud to ride, no matter how legendary its reputation is.
DIY is great, but without extensive hands on experience with these machines, they often don’t run as they should when restored purely the DIY way. They’ll run, but that’s about it because no manual accounts for adjustments based on worn out parts. Factory specifications only work as intended when all components are brand new and original.
I’ve extensively ridden both Suzuki's and Yamaha's, and in my opinion, Yamaha stands head and shoulders above Suzuki in terms of performance and feel. That said, Suzuki is butter smooth and excellent for relaxed, sedate riding, whereas the RX offers the best of both worlds it can be ridden calmly or pushed hard for an absolutely thrilling experience.
