Yamaha India: 1 million scooters up! Yamaha Motors India has reached the milestone of producing one million scooters in the country. The company rolled out its one-millionth scooter, which was a Fascino, from its manufacturing plant in Surajpur, Greater Noida. Yamaha manufactures scooters at both its plants - in Surajpur and Chennai.
It is worth noting that out of these one million scooters, around 80,000 have been exported to markets like Nepal, Mexico, Sri Lanka, Cost Rica, Dominican Republic and Ecuador.
Yamaha stepped into the gearless scooter market in 2012 with the Cygnus Ray, which was aimed at young female riders. The company then rolled out a new version of this scooter, christened as the Yamaha Cygnus Ray Z, and aimed it at young male buyers. The Japanese automaker subsequently launched a couple of more products, including the Cygnus Alpha and Fascino.
Yamaha has recorded a growth of 94% in its scooter sales during the first half of this year, as compared to the previous year. Link to Team-BHP News
