Special Edition Suzuki Gixxer SP and Gixxer SF SP launched

Suzuki has launched special editions of the Gixxer and Gixxer SF. Called the Gixxer SP and Gixxer SF SP, they are based on the rear disc brake versions of the motorcycles. The Gixxer SP and the Gixxer SF SP are available in Matt Fibroin Grey / Glass Sparkle Black (AR4) colour and priced at Rs. 85,867 and Rs. 94,394 respectively (ex-showroom, Mumbai).

The Gixxer SP and Gixxer SF SP feature race inspired graphics with a Gixxer SP emblem. The bikes also get maroon coloured seats and clear lens LED tail lamps.

The Gixxer SP and Gixxer SF SP are powered by same 154.9cc, single-cylinder, carbureted, air-cooled engine as the regular Gixxer and Gixxer SP. This unit develops 14.6 BHP @ 8,000 rpm and 14 Nm of torque @ 6,000 rpm. It is mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

Suzuki has also announced that the Gixxer SF-Fi - the fuel injected variant of the Gixxer SF, which was unveiled at the Auto Expo earlier this year, will now be available at select dealerships in the MotoGP edition colour.

Come on Suzuki, and give us a 300/400 cc twin cylinder motorcycle. Stop with the sticker jobs already! I don't understand why this stickering/coloring is some sort of preferred strategy in Indian market.

This bike deserve a much powerful engine say a 250 - 300 CC to exploit the full potential of the capable chassis. It is high time for Suzuki to enter to hot segment of the market. I personally like the colour and theme of the SP edition.

Really wonder why they are not able to roll out their Suzuki DR400; should be a stonker of a machine and priced comfortably must be seeing some good monies as well.

Suzuki is following the Yamaha strategy of introducing limited edition color and sticker jobs without making any mechanical changes. Maybe the low numbers from their mass market segment products have made them skeptical about new product launches and further R&D.
