I really hope i am wrong, But the G310GS may have a premium price when launched. BMW is an aspirational brand and would command brand value. The 310Gs will most likely be sharing showroom and service space with the bigger BMW imports, indirectly adding to the ownership cost. For people looking at value for money & power, there is always the KTM 390, or for someone looking for 'value for money + Adventure genes', there is the upcoming Xpulse. Going by the reviews, esp the last one, baby GS seems like apt bike for our indian condition but would come at a premium. I am really looking forward to this one and going by the gut feel, will most likely go for it even if it comes at a slight premium. (but hoping BMW surprises us with price in a good way, unlike what kawasaki did with Z900rs).

Ditto Nasirkaka.

I am looking forward to buy this one and the Boss (Wife :)) has finally agreed clap:

Any idea about the launch? Some websites are saying June-July and some between October-December 2018.

Cheers

Buyers are getting aged waiting for this bike. Looks like they will ensure all buyers are at least 40 by the time they buy BMW :)

The more we read about the baby gs, the more sense it makes for our conditions. Here is another one from ultimate motorcycling. Thanks to Red Liner for sharing this:

As well as the mod potential to make it a pretty neat dirt bike

Even the stock bike is decently capable of going off the road.

Stopped by the BMW Motorrad dealership on my way back from work today. They reckon a July launch for both the G310R and the GS. But the disheartening news is that they (dealership guys) expect the price to be between 3-4 lakh ex-showroom for both the bikes. (Shout out to @Athek and @Crazy Driver for predicting this price range)

That would make a G310R costlier than the Duke 390! I feel that if this expected pricing is true, the premium for the BMW badge is way too high, especially since both the R and the GS will be manufactured locally.

Waiting for the KTM 390 Adventure makes much more sense now.

Did they reveal anything on the mode of sales and service? Will they have a separate showroom and service for India made BMWs? Will the same dealer sell the 310 range as well? In Bangalore, there seems not much scope at the current showroom, reason being space constrains, especially service bays. Currently all their imported bikes are taken to 1st floor on a special lift for service. :)
Coming to pricing, 3+L is on the expected lines. Hopes its closer to 3 and not 4. I wonder if the 310r will sell much, as even at 3L the new 390 is still good value for money for the equipment and power it offers and a prospective 310r buyer will definitely look at 390 (and may go with it). Except the badge, there is nothing much going in favour of 310r.
G310GS should definitely work as its tailor made for our condition. KTMs available in India is not everyone's cup of tea cos of its radical and edgy, sharp and loud design and colour, high revving engine and stiff suspension. I had the first lot 390 but sold it last year for the same reason and am really looking forward to baby GS. It may not have the power of 390 or the cutting-edge technology such as ride by wire, tft screen etc, but has the GS genes and i am sure BMW will not use the GS suffix unless well deserved. International reviews have mostly been singing praises too. Now please bring it on here asap and take my money.

And dont even mention KTM 390 Adventure. Half my hair is turned white waiting for it since 2013, and still its as elusive as 5 years back. :D

It will be sold through the existing network of dealers. As for Bangalore, Tusker is already having teasers of the 310 twins up on their FB pages -

Hopefully the pricing is premium. Getting the price right will do them much more harm than good, with such a small network of dealers. Imagine all the KTM crowd going to the Motorrad showroom to check out the 310s. Will be a fun sight, since you've seen how premium and volume constrained it is.

Tusker, Bangalore just celebrated their first anniversary with the delivery of the 100th bike. Source. If the 310 has an aggressive pricing - that figure will be smashed in a month and all the showroom planning will be in a mess. :D

Existing dealer but separate showroom??:D Where is it coming? A little birdie said it could be towards Hosur road side. Waiting! Waiting!! And a teaser means the wait may not be too long. :)

I think the existing BMW Motorrad dealerships will be selling the 310's too. I believe this to be true because they took down my details and promised to inform me the moment the GS310 arrives. The Mumbai showroom is quite spacious. Didn't get a chance to see the service centre though.

The last motorcycle I was excited about (the Ninja 400) was priced out of my budget, I sincerely hope that the GS 310 does not go the same way. please:

Have zero info on that. Hope your sources are right about this.

And another one. Looks like the marketing is slowly getting kickstarted.

Got this from one of my friends in Bombay via What's App.

Hopefully the long wait may come to an end soon.

The previous message seems to be authentic too. That number belongs to Gurpreet himself who later reversed his stand. So not 'wrong' but reversed.

If I were to guess - looks like this was an unofficial attempt to get some bookings. :D Probably would have faced the wrath of the company after the message appeared in news articles. :uncontrol
