Kawasaki Ninja KRT special edition launched @ 3.61 lakhs

Excerpts from the article.

Quote:
Kawasaki India silently launched the Ninja 300 KRT edition in India. The KRT stands for Kawasaki Racing Team edition and the special version comes with a differently styled livery. The KRT edition has been priced at Rs 3.61 lakh, ex-showroom Mumbai, reports MotorBeam.

Ninja 300 KRT edition features black and green livery in place of the white and green paint combination of the previous special edition. The new colour combination has been inspired from the Kawasaki factory racing team participating in the World Superbike Championship.

The motorcycle continues to draw power from liquid-cooled, four-stroke parallel twin engine that develops 38.4bhp at 11,000rpm and 27Nm of torque at 10,000 mated to six-speed transmission.

I think the Ninja, however good it might be, is still getting a little old in the face of newer and fresher competition in the form of R3 from Yamaha. And this exercise might not do much to revive its hopes. What Kawasaki can actually do, is try localizing the next gen-Ninja 300 to keep prices competitive.

Both are selling similar numbers and there is nothing much to differentiate between the two. R3 hasn't really got a great start either, and it has taken a bad reputation for FE figures as well.

The first company to localize parts and build it in India will take the sales. Else both are only going to just chug along.

Totally agree with your views Crazy Driver, and also, KTM has been showing how it needs to be done in India. But unfortunately both Yamaha & Kawasaki are not ready to go the full distance, and their sales stats reflect that too.

I could see speed sensors in the pics. Does that mean we are getting ABS?

According to the article link the OP has given, we aren't.

One of the disappointing misses in the Ninja 300 is the lack of ABS, which will be introduced to the next generation, due in 2017.

Its the same bike w.r.t mechanical details but with new decals inspired by the new ZX-10R. I had seen this last week and it look awesome in flesh. Really tempted to book one and was promised delivery in 2 days. But holding for the 650, so waited it out. This looks real sharp though.
