Re: Kawasaki finally shows the Versys-X 300 at the 2016 EICMA

It's always good to have an option especially with a versus in the 300cc segment. People who felt Himalayan is a great bike but is a bit underpowered or not a proper upgrade from their present KTM 200 or CBR250R didn't have any option other than versys 650 or Benelli 600GT. Let's hope that Kawasaki launches this in India as a CKD, where a reliable adventure motorcycle at a reasonable price is the demand of the tourers.

More than the maturity; its all 'bout 'em beaucoup bucks

Here's the average monthly sales numbers for motorcycles in the 2 - 4 ish lac price range (Nov 2015 - Sep 2016):

Duke 390 - 600
Harley Street - 224
Himalayan (Mar - Sep) - 954
Continental GT - 100
Kawasaki 300 - 40
CBR 250 - 178
Mojo - 100

The manufacturers are not convinced of the spending capacity of the Indian junta for high (ish) capacity motorcycles. KTM is the case study for them all to look at. The loaded VFM absolutely versatile 390 does a measly 600 copies. Would this be enough to get decent ROI if one were to invest in a manufacturing plant in India? Highly doubtful!

expect Kawasaki to be SKD or CKD this Versys X300 and price it really well. ABS will surely make it to this bike making this the Kawasaki middleweight to have ABS and see a lot of motorcycles roll out of the showroom.

Re: Kawasaki finally shows the Versys-X 300 at the 2016 EICMA

A fellow Versys owner spotted the X300 near Satara. Could not take a pic as it was on the opposite lane.

Meanwhile, Kawasaki has hinted at a launch coming soon. My guess is either on the X300 or the Vulcan 650.
