There will be takers who find themselves in one or more categories. We need to wait and see the sales figures. |
Except for Sr. no. 3; I 'want' the car-like instrument cluster and windscreen of Forza.
How so long I have been waiting for the 150 cc maxiscooter segment to kickstart!
I really wish this to succeed, and give a wake-up call to Honda to bring in the Forza 150.
Is it that I am thinking overly wishful?:D

It is an R15 motor indeed, albeit with 2 valves instead of 4. |
In one of the slides about the engine mentioned as 155LC4V - which i believe should be liquid cooled 4 Valves, can someone clarify weather it is 2 or 4 valves?
Lovely and a very tempting bike by Yamaha !
Although I am holding out for the Forza 350 at a decent price point :-)

It’s a liquid cooled 4 valve engine as per the Yamaha India website.

Just curious and strictly OT, why are you selling the less run Aprilia 160? Upgrade itch or is it falling short for something from your usage? I can understand 100/110/125cc guys wanting to upgrade, but a one year old same bracket upgrade is intriguing. Hope you don't mind this question. |
Upgrade itch only. have been following Aerox from a long time.
Will make a decision post test ride.

I thought so. It doesn't make economic sense to make two versions of the same engine.
Couldn't find any in showrooms in Coimbatore. Has anyone had a chance to check personally?

None of the showrooms in Bangalore have it on display. Few showrooms said it will come by first week of Oct, few said it will take another 1.5 months to reach as production is still not started.
Looks like showroom them selves have no clarity on when it would reach them.

Not a very apt comparison, but if you have or plan to add a larger bike (650cc superbike) to your garage, which scooter would complement it better ? Aerox or say a Ola S1 pro/Ather 450x.
The scooter will be used only for intra city runs (say 10kms one-way) with some grocery duties and will never see the highway as that is where the bike will be used.
My mind says get a electric scooter as its a practical choice but Aerox is probably the closest scooter in terms of matching the ride and feel of my bike that is now used for such duties and I wouldn't have to face a lot of issues that plague the first gen electric scooters.

Hehe, this is a very wrong scooter for grocery runs and other local duties.
So do not buy it for that. Also, better to wait for a while before initial runs and reviews come online for it and take a test ride too, when available.
If you need a scooter immediately (and for said duties) get any regular ones available.
This is useful for highway runs when you want to. Even if that means 3-4 times a year. It will be a pleasure to ride I believe. But definitely not for grocery runs that may have 10-12 KG in load.
Just bread butter is ok. Even there, 1.5L is not worth the run. Stick to a regular scooter costing 60-80K.

Any scooter will do the job you want it to Shashank, it just depends which scooter you want it to be lol: and depends how much you want to spend for it.
You seem to be sold on the Aerox, so go for it and enjoy going around the city and grocery buying. The under-seat storage seems to be the largest so you shouldn’t have issues while shopping. It seems to have the go to match the show judging by international reviews on uTube.
I wouldn’t touch an electric scooter yet as I feel we don’t have the infrastructure for it. Petrol pumps exist everywhere not charging stations. I would not like to be stuck in a pinch, having a vehicle and not being able to use it due to a flat battery.
Cheers
Had the opportunity to check it out yesterday evening on the way home at Luit Automobiles, Zoo road, Guwahati. The scooter was parked in the basement and had very poor lighting conditions. As per their information, it will officially be launched on 1st October, followed by media ads. Accessories will take approximately one month to arrive.
Had a very short stint on the scooter and my initial impressions are:
1. It's a very refined motor, vibrations are very well contained, and the start motor-generator fires up the engine without any of the winding noise.
2. The quality of the switchgear and handle grip seemed very good.
3. Low-end response is definitely better than the Aprilia/Vespa 150. Didn't have the chance to check any further.
4. Front brakes are very progressive, no surprises and with the ABS it should be a very safe braking experience. Although I would still prefer a little more bite, maybe the brake lines were not tightened up as it was just unloaded from the truck.
5. No kick starter.
6. Non existant pillion grab rails.
The booking amount was Rs 5000/- and I have booked the grey color. They said I can expect delivery on the 5th or 6th of October.
The only decent pic that I managed to click(Sorry, I am a terrible photographer):

Congratulations Tek2991! Please update us on the on road price with the breakup. Your Aerox will probably be the first one one on our forum since Sebring mentioned his delivery would probably be around the end of October. Did you ask about the accessories, their pricing and did you book anything? Look forward to your thoughts after delivery.
All the best.
Cheers

I wouldn't consider this as a scooter from practical point of view, footboard area is almost non-usable. This more like motorcycle with underseat storage and CVT transmission.
Something like Activa 125 or Access should fit your bill.:)
One of the first TD rides of Aerox Indian variant, I believe, unlike the videos shot in SE Asia and review commentary alone is given in Hindi/English.
Those interested might've already watched the below video, yet here you go.

A very interesting proposition. After a brief TD, I might also end up booking one as this can double as a city bike, and a tourer which can be ridden by my wife who already rides a Jupyter.
Cheers!
