Should I elaborate on a two cylinder advantage versus that of a big bore single cylinder engine?

Or should I compare a Japanese reliability with any other manufacturer?

So it 'excel at one purpose and is more focused and involving' when it comes to reliability and refinement?

Japanese reliability was not seen in the earlier version of the R3 - but I'm glad they've made amends with those bad tyres, did recalls for the ignition issues and introduced ABS now.

So yeah - while it would be a long explanation to do - but anyways - those are valid points as well. And if one finds it worth paying double the amount for smoothness and reliability over something like the RR - its again a personal choice. Yamaha as a brand had never lost its share of fans ever since their glory days.

But when it comes to core motorcycling characteristics - the RR310 has really closed the gap. Not that I say it - but competent magazines like Powerdrift and Evo do.

Re: Yamaha @ Auto Expo 2018

Sad to see no FZ-07. It makes so much more sense than the FZ-09 for India. Or even get the outdated FZ6R. Will make a wonder machine for Indian bikers to graduate to the liter class.

It pretty much competes against the Triumph Street Triple 765 and the Kawasaki Z900, except with the pricing.

Re: Yamaha @ Auto Expo 2018

Is there any impact of the new import policy & tax rebates on the new R3? Is it a CBU?

R3 is a CKD. Not sure if the import duty reduction benefit will include parts too.

Re: Yamaha @ Auto Expo 2018

Went to Yamaha dealer at Adyar today & was told that the bike has not been launched anywhere other than Auto Expo. The dealer 'expects' a April end launch.

The Adyar branch of the dealer is not listed in Yamaha website for YZF R3, in general they are not very enthusiastic as well.

You could probably try with the same dealer OMR branch or JMB

So true they are a lazy bunch!! The ones who think they do a favor by selling you a bike. I did check with them whether they are authorized to sell R3 and one of them said Yes.

I called Bikers @ Alandur and what lovely experience. The guy mentioned they received a demo bike for FC & approximately 3.98L OTR price.

He said test ride might take another 1 month, but I can visit the showroom to see the bike.

Bikerz Alandur is a very good place. I purchased my FZ25 from there. The staff there are very good, polite and take efforts to satisfy the customers. Service centre too has been very professional and I really liked the way they maintain the place.

Good to know they are updated on the R3 situation.
