Test mules of an upcoming bike were recently spotted on the Bangalore-Chennai highway. Could this be the next generation Yamaha FZ150?

The prototypes seen here on Sriperumbudur license plates are camouflaged in black tape. They reportedly had an LED headlight but a conventional tail lamp and turn signals. Also note that the shape of the tail lamp looks similar to the current FZ. The fuel tank has a knee recess and a short fairing underneath. The bike has a stepped seat and side-mounted exhaust with a silver heat shield.

The test bikes have a conventional telescopic type front suspension and a monoshock at the rear. They are sporting alloy wheels and disc brakes at both ends.

The current Yamaha FZ comes in two variants - FZ and FZS. The bikes are powered by a 149cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine with fuel injection that produces 13 BHP @ 8,000 rpm and 12.8 Nm of torque @ 6,000 rpm. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

Looks like the new FZ gets the cluster from the FZ 25 which is too small. LED headlamps are a nice addition but i still don’t see any ABS. And lets hope that the LED headlamps are not the same as the FZ 25. Because we all know how bad they are.

Some how i had the idea that Yamaha had plans to plonk the R15 engine in FZ in the coming version.

Even otherwise the changes are incremental.

Hopefully the stickering is better.

Disappointed.

On a side note, glad to see the test riders properly geared up in Alpinestars riding gear (jacket, pants, gloves and riding boots) and MT helmets. Kudos to Yamaha for giving due credit to the rider safety.

That's the MT15 launched in Thailand for S.E Asian Markets. If launched in India it would cost more than the R15V3 as it got the USD front forks, hipe Yamaha India gets bold enough to launch a "Premium" Naked 150 cc (MT15) in India.

By the way I expect the new FZ test mule to get ABS since the April 2019 deadline is approaching.

Are there are any live webcasts ?

I am unable to find any such details on yamaha official website or internet .

Guess this would have the live update. Going by R15 ABS update, we can expect this to get a 10-12k-ish price bump making it start at around 92-94k ex-showroom.

Both the Yamaha FZ V3.0 and FZ-S V3.0 will come with a bunch of new and updated features like - Fully-digital LCD instrument cluster, single-channel ABS, LED headlight, single-piece seat with 2 levels, and more.

So 13k premium over previous gen. Only single channel ABS unlike the R15 which got dual-channel.

Here's a picture that I took during the event. I really like this particular color and design. 13K seems a bit too much over the old model. I was disappointed that the power figures weren't bumped.
