Bajaj to launch Pulsar 180F

Yes.. The Pulsar 180 will wear the (once) fastest Indians outfit.

You just can't separate Bajaj and Permutations-Combinations.

Absolutely! They keep aimlessly playing mix and match with whatever they have in their inventory to check what works and what doesn't!

However - the 180F might have another reason to it. The 220F may get discontinued in favour of a 250F soon, if this report is to be believed. In that case, having an entry level faired bike might just be a good idea - considering the semi-urban and rural appeal of the outgoing 220F.

Should I just find a strong wall to bang my head?

What’s wrong with these guys? But, I really liked the color of the new 180F!

But, I also hope whatever they’re doing, they upgrade the motor to 250cc with fuel injection. I’m still riding my 220 FI and the power delivery is still addictive even after 60k kms on the odo. Hope they bring out 250 & do their magic just like how they did with 220.

Re: Bajaj to launch Pulsar 180F

I don't blame Bajaj for this move. Rather I appreciate their internal feedback gathering techniques and policies.

P180 DTSi + Fairing of P220 is an extremely common and popular modification done by a large portion of P180 owners. Bajaj is just capitalizing on that.

I think this is better than what Yamaha is doing with their line up. They seems to have taken this job of stickering from Hero. Bajaj is atleast adding some functional mods compare to only adding "racing colors" or "new sticker" !

Re: Bajaj to launch Pulsar 180F

When Yamaha can do a Fazer with the FZ16, guess Bajaj is perfectly justified with the 180 and 180F.

But what about customers/potential customers of the 220F?

Re: Bajaj to launch Pulsar 180F

Another interesting move from Bajaj and one that I was partially waiting for. It probably slipped the collective attention of TBHPians but Bajaj recently launched the Pulsar 150 Neon edition with a matte grey colour with neon accents along with a 3D emblem on the rear cowl and alloy wheel decals. You can also get other colours with neon yellow, neon red or neon silver accents. As per Fast Bikes magazine, the Neon retails at Rs 64,998 which is Rs 9,000 less than the standard model. The Zigwheels website has the price difference at around Rs 2,000. I don't know about you, but Im certainly baffled by this decision to launch a better looking special edition at a lower price! Anyways it was just a matter of time before Bajaj took this up the ladder to the 180 and 200 and 220. And that is what we have here with the new Pulsar 180F - the neon edition of the bike.

What I didn't expect was that the 180 would get the 220s fairing which is another baffling move by Bajaj. If there is one manufacturer that I can never understand, its Bajaj.

Once again, with a Bajaj Motors decision, I am reminded of the famous quote by the wrestler Rowdy Roddy Piper "Just when you think you know all the answers, I change all the questions!"

The Pulsar 150 Std was updated recently to have the same look as the outgoing 180 - split seats, clip on handlebars, rear disc, etc. The Neon version is copy of the old version without any rear disc or even the tank extensions. That's why the lower price. I haven't seen a single Neon version on the road till date.

Coming to the P180F, back in 2012 I was looking to buy the 220S model as I am not a big fan of faired bikes. Rattles, higher repair costs in case of a fall, heavy front end, etc were some of the reasons. The 220S had been discontinued very quickly and I couldn't find any old stock with any of the dealers. Hence I went for the 180. Today, if I am in market and have the same criteria then I will have to manage with the P150. Forced downsizing!

Re: Bajaj to launch Pulsar 180F

From where I see things, the P220 tribe would not be facing any shortage of parts in the coming decade or two for the least of it.

The hatred for the fairing is real, I pray that one day my fairing would fall off, which would be enough reason for me to go for a round HL.

But unlike other motorcycles in the same class the fairing seems to be designed by Germans and made from Adamantium, about 40k km's on the odo with several off-road stints, crashes and falls, my P220's fairing still holds on fine with the exception of a high speed head-on collision that resulted in the front sub-fairing having to be changed, but not the fairing.

Re: Bajaj to launch Pulsar 180F

I honestly feel Bajaj should launch the classic Pulsar with round head-lamp or maybe something on the design lines of CB300R or a Pulsar Scrambler would be something I would put my money on blindly.

But all Bajaj is doing nowdays is shitty sticker work.

Where is the Fear the Black ideology?

This is starting to make some sense now. So Bajaj
- Added neon stickers to the old 150 and dropped the price of that bike. We now know it as the Pulsar 150 Neon edition.
- Upgraded the regular 150 with new features from the Pulsar 180. Did they keep the price of the standard 150 the same after adding the new features?

Old Pulsar 150 owners might feel they got a bad deal but new owners get two variants of the Pulsar 150 to choose from which is a good move by Bajaj. And the entry level price of the Pulsar has come down. It will be interesting to see if they are able to sell more Pulsar 150s in the coming months with this.

Re: Bajaj to launch Pulsar 180F

People love the 220 fairing. I've seen people port it onto P150. Not many people want it on the 180 though. Bajaj is all about trial and error. But IMO, it would have made more sense to offer the fairing on the 150 Twin Disc instead. Would have attracted more buyers.

Rattles!?

I think you meant super-bike SFX!

True Story:

Gave a chick from work a ride, I can bet my sweet banana-fries that I didn't cross 80 clicks, but my pillion was so ecstatic that she took a video of the ride(without my knowledge) and showed it to everyone at work.

She was going gaga like "Oh Maan! Ashwin was riding so fast and I just loved the feel of his motorcycle!" and other nonsensical exaggerations that culturally bound Indian women say when they get a taste of liberty.

Took a while for me to realize what the reason for her statements were, soon after carrying out some work on the P220 I rode her(P220) for a bit lid-less to observe for any unusual sounds from the motor, but the moment I picked up revs the combined sound of the rough motor and fairings gave me the notion that I was either riding a bigger/louder motorcycle or that I was riding really really fast or BOTH!

Concluded that my Bell Qualifier was doing a really good job of filtering some of the bothersome frequencies while riding which was why I was oblivious of the fairing rattles until then.
