Rumour: Kawasaki Ninja 300 recalled for brake issue

According to a media report, Kawasaki has issued a recall for all locally-assembled Ninja 300s from 2018 onwards for a brake issue. The exact number of bikes affected by this issue is not known.

Reports suggest that there is an issue with the front brake master cylinder supplied by Endurance. If not fixed, it could lead to brake failure.

The report also states that Kawasaki dealers have started contacting owners to get the faulty master cylinder unit replaced free of cost.

In order to reduce costs, Kawasaki had started sourcing certain components from local manufacturers. These include brakes, wheels, tyres and plastics.

Kawasaki is yet to make an official statement regarding this recall.

Re: Rumour: Kawasaki Ninja 300 recalled for brake issue

Well, spoke to my dealer Rideventur Bangalore and he’s yet to get a word about this from Kawasaki. I got my N300 last month and will be heading to first service early next week. Have completed 500kms till date. Well, that’s sad localisation needs a lot of QC before it gets into the bikes as these are extremely critical components. They’re saying there might be a potential brake failure from this equipment. Pretty scary.

Re: Rumour: Kawasaki Ninja 300 recalled for brake issue

Just last week i was there at Kawasaki Delhi for my N650 and saw one 300 getting master cylinder replacement under this very recall. The service adviser confirmed that there is a recall from Kawasaki for MC replacement as the MC has failed on certain bikes.

I did not go into details but i faintly remember him telling that it is for bikes manufactured till a few months back and the recent batch is not impacted. Not 100% sure about this.

Re: Rumour: Kawasaki Ninja 300 recalled for brake issue

During the launch, many members had expressed concerns regarding Endurance brakes (which sounded new) but I personally thought they should do fine since the company had been in the market for quite some time, making parts like motorcycles shocks, forks etc.

Looks like the concerns expressed came true after all!

Kawasaki could have opted for the more common Bybre, even if it meant a slightly higher price. Bad press will cost them more!

Re: Rumour: Kawasaki Ninja 300 recalled for brake issue

I’m just waiting to hear back from my dealer. Nevertheless, I’m dropping in for service on Monday for my bike. Will see if my bike is in the list of the impacted lot. Wish they’d also shared chassis numbers of affected lot. That would’ve erased a lot of apprehensions of many owners.

Re: Rumour: Kawasaki Ninja 300 recalled for brake issue

Can anyone please share pictures of the MC with Endurance label on it?

Reason being to date I've never seen one. We're on the hunt for a suitable (cheaper) MC for one of our rebuilds and have currently stumbled upon the Bybre unit found on commuter Honda's, which costs 1.4k, at that price point I'm curious to see what made Kawasaki opt for Endurance over Bybre since Bybre's are cheap to begin with.

Dang! That's dirt cheap, is it available OTC?

If so I'd be glad to get hold of one.

Got the first service done last Monday and luckily my bike isn’t part of the recall on the MC! I’m relieved.
