Honda Dio : Tyre upgrade

Hello folks.
My Honda Dio is about to turn 5 next month and just clocked 17,000 kms.
So thought of getting new shoes.
Checked many tyres with different patterns and finally decided to get a new fatter rear tyre for my Dio.
Old tyre : 90/100/10 - MRF Zapper
New tyre : 120/70/10 - MRF Zapper

Re: Honda Dio : Tyre upgrade

Changing tyre profiles are risky. In most cases it changes the riding dynamics and handling of the 2 wheeler.

Any changes noticed with the new tyres?

No change.
It rides even more planted now.

I understand the planted ride, but you have effectively downsized the tire (90mm+10" earlier vs 84mm+10" now). There must be changes in Top speed, Fuel economy and Faster ODO. Anyway, i guess it is less than 2% which should be alright, should feel tad more torquey for short spins.

If you see any handlebar wobble which could happen due to wheel mis-alignment, you may have to reconsider stock.

The other part he seems to have missed is the size of the rim, going with a wider profile on a smaller rim simply reduces contact patch(false notion of better handling at the cost of reduced traction under stress), not to mention presents the risk of the tire bead hopping off the rim under torsion.

Odo readings won't be affected since the odo cable is attached to the front wheel.. not the rear one.

On the contrary, I don't think the change would make it feel more torquey.. the Rear Wheel size has increased here.. its different to putting a bigger rear sprocket on a bike.

My bad, I assumed you changed both tires.

Still, the side wall profile is 120×70/100 = 84mm compared to stock 90×100/100 = 90mm. Your tire should be smaller in circumference. Again, it is less than 2% therefore we may not have any noticeable improvement.

Front tyre is stock. Only rear is changed, I have ridden approx 25 kms. Haven't felt any change in behaviour of my Dio.
