Indonesia: KTM 250 Adventure unveiled

The KTM 250 Adventure has been unveiled in Indonesia. It is positioned below the 390 Adventure which was unveiled at 2019 EICMA earlier this week.

The quarter litre version looks similar to the 390 Adventure. It has an LED headlight with a short windshield, digital instrument cluster, stepped seat and a single side-mounted exhaust.

The 250 Adventure is powered by a 248.8cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 30 BHP and 24 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a 6-speed transmission via a slipper clutch.

The 250 Adventure features a 43 mm upside down fork suspension at the front and a monoshock at the rear. It rides on 19-inch and 17-inch alloy wheels at the front and rear respectively. The bike is equipped with a 320 mm disc brake at the front and 230 mm at the rear and comes with dual-channel ABS.

Re: Indonesia: KTM 250 Adventure unveiled

  • Same seat height - 855mm.
  • Same WP Apex suspension and GC as the 390 Adventure.
  • However, front is now non-adjustable. Rear can now be adjusted only for preload.
  • 2 kgs lighter
  • Retains slipper clutch
  • 19” front wheel and 17” rear wheel, but now fitted with tubeless MRF Mogrip Meteor-FM2 tires
  • Same brakes + ABS
  • Looks like no ride by wire, no traction control?
  • But has offroad ABS.
  • Also, looks like halogen headlamps to me? Definitely not the typical KTM LED cluster.

Re: Indonesia: KTM 250 Adventure unveiled

Is it the same WP apex suspension that's used by the 890r and 390 adv over here? If so I'd be very interested to see it trickle down to their street bikes like the Duke and RC. Suspension upgrades are the only performance related agenda I see that KTM can pursue to update their existing models.

This looks like a bike I would like to buy.

Hope they price it well.

390 I think is a crazy bike and I dont need so much hooligan-ism!

They have taken the link down now. Not updated in the motorcycle section either. So was it not officially launched?

From the feature differences, the pricing may be - The 250 Adventure is Economy class and the 390 Adventure Business Class!

As per bikewale it's releasing next week.

Nice spread of adventure offerings in 2-3L range now. Himalayan (~2L), BMW 310 GS(2.85L) , KTM 390 adventure (3.04L). If the news is true, that would give adventure bike enthusiasts another option around 2.5L range.

Ofcourse xpulse 200 continues to be the sole offering at entry level (1.1L)

May not happen, but will be happy to be proved wrong. At least in Chennai, the dealers have zero clue and hence they dont expect a launch this month. This is something I heard from the dealer this week.

Never ridden a 250 so no real point of reference. But if KTM put in the 200 motor in Adv trim.and priced it around 2 or just sib 2, then they would cause ripples in Chennai.

Tsunami actually ...

I actually happen to think the 200 motor will be the better more useable Adv than the 390. Having owned both the 200 and the 390, I've always maintained that the 200 was more fun in the city jungle. It will be the same on tight and technical trails.

Cheers, Doc

I agree and i think it will come and i think it will be better off in an enduro street motorcycle (21/18, more suspension) as opposed to ADV...

Yup. Always favored the idea of a super motard SM version of the 200 for India though.

Economy and availability of a wide variety of tyres and the all round abilities, adaptability and fun factor.

But if the numbers do not justify a 4th platform, plonking the 200 motor into the Adv will do very nicely as well.

Cheers, Doc
