Re: Honda Activa 6G launched at Rs. 63,912

Is there a disc brake option in the DLX. So the chances of new aviator is now low, since the telescopic suspension was the only reason people went for it. .

From what has been revealed today, I do no think disk brake, alloy wheels or digital instrument cluster is there in 6G. Honda wants you to upgrade to Activa 125 BS6 if you want these features & obviously pay a premium

Re: Honda Activa 6G launched at Rs. 63,912

This is the first time that an Activa launch has made me consider buying one. It's still a basic scooter, but it has genuinely useful features, like remote seat/fuel-lid unlock, longer footboard, telescopic suspension, and bigger front wheel. Gimmicky features like the digital console have been dropped, and simplicity seems to be the name of the game.

It is a brilliant idea by Honda to migrate their best selling scooter to the same platform as the 125. The bigger 125's body and wheels automatically lend a premium-ness to the 6G, while the 125 remains more premium with the chrome bits, disc brakes, alloys etc.

I do wish that the Dlx model had more than just an LED headlamp to claim over the Std. IMO, Honda should have given black wheels and some elegant dual-tone paint and stickering like they did for the Activa 5G Special Edition. I guess that will come in 7G.
A disc brake doesn't make sense for the power that it makes, and I can see why it was omitted.

Now, the stage is set for TVS to announce the pricing of their BS6 Jupiter in standard trim and price it just below the 6G, so that they can grab a slice of the action. I'm guessing that for the price of the Std Activa, you'd be able to buy a disc variant of the Jupiter BS6. Like Suzuki's new Access, they too have missed out on the silent ACG start system, at least till the next revision.

The Fascino 125 seems to be a much better buy, as the drum variant would cost the same as the 6G Dlx model, and an all-new 125cc engine is a good trade-off for an LED headlamp. And the base model of the Activa 125 is just a couple of thousand bucks away. with similar specs.

Just thought I'd add a comparison of FI scooters in the same price range. All Details courtesy of Bikewale.in

Finally Honda realized that they are lagging behind in terms of features when most of the competition is offering loads of them. The telescopic front is a necessity. So is external fuel filler lid.

That lack of telescopic suspension was a major sore point on Activa.
The existing linked suspension bottoms out and transfers the shock all the way to the rider's shoulders.
Combined with the plastic cladding that often falls off on the way the suspension setup was crude to say the least.

Even a decade old Scooty Pep plus with telescopic suspension gives a silent and much smooth ride.

Re: Honda Activa 6G launched at Rs. 63,912

Comparing all the Fi Scooters here the Maestro BSIV Is the cheapest here. If we look at BSVI models, Activa retails at 64k, followed by Access at 68k and Fascino at 71k. The omission of the front disc and alloy wheels is a ploy to make sure that Aviator sales don't go down.

Re: Honda Activa 6G launched at Rs. 63,912

Can anyone comment about the reliability of the new activa 6g? I've been told that it is more maintenance intensive than the outgoing model.

How would the access 125 compare with the activa in terms of durability, longevity and maintenance? And no im not talking about the metal or fiber body.

I'm in the market for a new scooter to replace my 50k run activa 2g. Any pointers would be helpful, thanks!

Re: Honda Activa 6G launched at Rs. 63,912

Your activa can easily live another 30k kms atleast, assuming its in good condition. No need to invest close to a lakh on another activa, unless you absolutely need a new one.

Also note that FI models are less maintenance type vehicles, there is no carburettor, no tuning, no upjet/low-key, no choke. Apart from these the only difference are - different body work, 125cc, added sensors, ecm, fuel injector fitted on the intake manifold, cosmetics, telescopic suspension in front (from aviator I guess).

None of your sensors need cleaning or servicing, the Fi would work flawlessly unless you run it ok too low fuel level or use excessively adulterated fuel.

Activa 6G will probably have half the Maintenance of a 5G/any prior Variant.

Re: Honda Activa 6G launched at Rs. 63,912

I took delivery of my Activa 6G last month. The speedometer needle is not completely stable and tends to vibrate when riding at a speed less than 40km/h. The vibration is more on deceleration.

Can other Activa users comment if this is normal? What could be the possible cause and solution for this?

I got mine last week. I haven't noticed this issue in mine. Better get it checked with the service centre.

Huh, what?? TVS Wego had telescopic suspension, external fuel filling, alloy wheels, all metal body over 10 years ago. Good morning Honda.
This is what I don't appreciate. Companies with runaway models skimping on safety, convenience and comfort features on the mere arrogance of their vehicle selling in large numbers.

Speedometers cable lose connection will cause this issue. Or worst case, cable needs replacement. Nothing major or to worried about.
