Rumour: Hero Duet E e-scooter to take on Bajaj Chetak & TVS iQube Electric

According to a media report, Hero MotoCorp is planning to launch the Duet E electric scooter in India later this year.

The Duet E was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo. It had a claimed range of 65 km on a single charge and could accelerate from 0-60 km/h in 6.5 seconds.

The Duet E would compete with the Bajaj Chetak and the recently launched TVS iQube Electric.

The Chetak costs Rs. 1 lakh (ex-showroom) and is powered by a 4.1 kW electric motor and a battery pack with a claimed maximum range of 95 km on a single charge. The TVS iQube Electric uses a 4.4 kW electric motor and has a claimed range of 75 km on a single charge. It is priced at Rs. 1.15 lakh.

If this really comes to life, it would end up being the one with the lowest range, while also being the most boring to look at. Hero really needs to up its game if it intends to sell anything other than 100cc commuter bikes.
