According to a media report, Hero MotoCorp is developing an electric scooter. The bike maker is said to have built a prototype called the eMaestro concept.

The eMaestro concept could be based on the Maestro Edge platform. It is said to be powered by a lithium-ion battery and a permanent magnet motor.

The concept scooter looks similar to the Maestro Edge 125. It features red alloy wheels and front fork. The report states that the e-scooter also gets a digital instrument cluster.

Once in production, the eMaestro electric scooter could compete with the likes of the Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube and Ather 450.

Re: Rumour: Hero developing eMaestro electric scooter

Good to see the trend picking up amongst key players, as the segment has already been created. As we have been discussing on Electric Car threads that the general inclination is towards having them as second of third car of the house.
Here, capable Electric scooters (Athers, iCubes etc, not the electric contraptions) can possibly help in creating Tech awareness from efficiency, reliability and longevity POV.

Re: Rumour: Hero developing eMaestro electric scooter

The prototype for Hero Maestro Electric has been revealed

Looks very similar to it's petrol powered sibling however few interesting features have been added

1. Ride mode selector - Twist LHS grip handle to select Drive, Park or Reverse similar to the gear lever of erstwhile scooters.
2. Fully digital instrument cluster with supposed cloud connectivity options.
3. Blacked out LED headlamp.

Official figures are not released but as stated in the article Hero Motocorp does have a large stake in Ather Energy so it remains to be seen if they can leverage it.
