No idea about the map on lite. I’ve got a bmc filter and a bdsb end cap on the bike.

Does anyone know if KTM has released updated software for the 2020/2021 390 adventure recently?

re: The KTM 390 Adventure (Gen- 1) Ownership Thread!

Team, since there's no exclusive ownership thread for ADV 250 and since it's essentially the same as ADV 390, raising my query here

I bought a Adv 250 last december and since then, the motorcycle has this slight pull to the right and runs very slightly off-axis(very slightly slanted to the left like 3°). That is, If I let go off the handlebar, the motorcycle corrects(straightens) itself and pulls / veers to the right.

During my first service, I gave it to one service center and they kept it for one whole day(apart from the day of first service) and returned it as it is and saying it's not unusual and this is normal. But, I have ridden another adventure 390 and it ran dead straight till the speed reduced to a very minimum.

However, the motorcycle is normal and runs straight with a pillion or if the rider is overweight(>100kgs). It's only replicable when ridden alone and the rider is of light-medium built(I'm 76kg).

I'll be giving it to a different svc for second service this friday and need your suggestions on how to convey this issue to them and get it rectified?

Note.: During my first service, I asked the mechanic if the forks could've been twisted and he said the forks seems to be normal only

Thanks in advance!

Hi ,
is there any version of RK chain which fits the standard stock sprocket set of Adv 390?
The stock chain gets loose quite easily and needs to be fixed quite frequently- very irritating during long rides.

Hi Everyone

Which is the better way to go for sprocketing. Changing of the Front sprocket or Rear one. Cost is not the main concern, idea is to find out which is the better option for the 390 adventure

Cheers

Depends on what you want.

Stock = 15T Front + 45T Rear
Increased torque (City riding + lots of off-road) = 14T front (250 duke) + 45T Rear
Mixed riding = 15T Front + 46T Rear (250 duke)
Max torque on steroids = 14T Front + 46T Rear

First of all, loved your travelogue(s), and youtube videos.
You are someone who is extracting all the adventure out of ADV390. Which sprocket combo, as per your experience, is the best one for someone who is primarily buying(hopefully) this bike specifically for touring purpose? And by touring I meant the kind of touring you did during your NE ride last year, full of highway/gravel/mud/slush/rocks.

If I remember correctly, earlier you did use 14T front, and going by youtube comment 46T rear also. Which combo you finally settled on?

Also, with the 2022 models, the new offroad/street mode, and reinforced alloy wheels makes 390 a very lucrative purchase. It still costs 3.9L here with 5 year comprehensive warranty, but you get what you pay for.

Thank you.

I experimented with the 14T + 45T combo first. I found it too aggressive for my liking and the kind of riding I started doing. The vibes increased a bit too much as well.

I went back to the 15T front and switched the 45T rear to a 46T rear. So now I had a reasonable balance of highway/top end with the 15T stock front and some off-road bite with the 46T rear. This has now joined me on the whole NE ride, as well as Himachal, Ladakh, Zanskar...

At 3.9, the bike continues to be an absolute steal.

From various videos, 14T did seem to be more aggressive and you confirmed the same. Thank you.

46T looks like a good option. Was there a need to change the chain or the stock one worked?
Also, RaceCustoms make 47T rear, and many people loved it. Seems like a middle route. But it’s costly at ₹3000, and requires you to change the chain to 118link one(Dominar’s). It also limits with usage with a good chain sprocket like RK.

I prefer sticking with stock components where available. For me everything worked with the stock chain and I am done. I have realised that chasing performance, you end up Making many changes, and I like keeping things simple.
