11 lakh BS6 Honda 2-wheelers sold in India

According to Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI), it has sold more than 11 lakh BS6-compliant 2-wheelers in India.

Honda started selling BS6-compliant models 6 months before the new emission norms were scheduled to come into effect. The Activa 125 was the first BS6 model to be launched in September, last year.

In FY2019-20, Honda claims to have sold 6.5 lakh units of BS6 2-wheelers. The company has stated that the Activa 6G and Shine 125 have seen high demand.

Honda now has 11 models in its BS6 portfolio. These includes scooters like the Activa and Grazia and motorcycles like the Livo and X-Blade. The bike maker has also launched the BS6-compliant Africa Twin Adventure bike in India.

I remember way back in 2007 many of my friends had purchased Shine for office commute. It is still ruling this 125 cc segment for more than a decade. Quite an achievement akin to Splendor of 100-110 cc.
