Headlight Mod for enfield

I want to know if it is possible to dismantle the headlight assembly of the Bullet Electra in order to replace it with something like the Thunderbird headlight where only the head light is fixed and the display unit is a separate fitment.

Hope you all understood and second, will i be able to work the fuel part of the Thunderbird when i fix it on the standard type and is there any other mods too to be done for this.

Well you can do it. You got to remove the 'Casquette' (that whole part which holds everything, speedo, ammeter, lights) and replace that with a upper triple tree of the thunderbird. Then you need to get the thunderbird type headlamp housing, headlamp holder, meter assy (if needed).

We understood the first part but dint quite understand the fuel part

If you mean the fuel gauge then you need to modify the tank to fit the fuel level sending unit.

The tbird meter assy is around 2.5k

Casquette is the part which hold the headlight and the meters. I suggest you visit the friendly neighborhood mechanic.

I need recommendations for a more powerful headlight to use than the stock one , without the need for any modifications , standard 12v battery in the bullet.

Don't do it!

Not because it can't be done, but because your old headlight assembly is million tiumes more robust and accident proof.

The T Bird headlight assy is such a delicate darling that one bump and the whole thing is mashed and twisted beyond recognition!

The old bull assembly could face anything.

For stronger headlights - it depends on the dynamo amps or the battery amps.
Even if you put 100W bulb - it wont glow on an Enfield.

Actually you are right in a way , perhaps the RE bulb is underpowered because it cannot handle the load ? I really have trouble seeing in the night though , and I do not like modifications.

Dude, you can upgrade to an HID light. I have done it on my Bull. It will light up the whole road in the night!!!

Hi everyone,

I've been a guest on TBHP for quite a while (say last 20 years), especially going through countless headlight threads. This is my first post since signing up, and I'm really excited to share some DIYs that I've been working on.

Currently, I'm posted to a different location for work for 5-6 months, so I have some time on my hands to work on my ride. I’ve brought along a Royal Enfield Thunderbird X headlight and some old bi-xenon D2S projectors + HID kit that have been sitting unused in a drawer. I’m planning to swap the stock headlight projector with a Hella G5R D2S, which is quite similar to the Morimoto D2S setup.

One question I had: Can anyone confirm whether the D2S to AMP adapter fits directly onto the bulb after installing the retainer and all the necessary components? I couldn’t find any images or videos showing the D2S projector with the bulb and adapter, so I’m unsure about the clearance.

In the past, I had to solder the wires directly to the bulb due to limited space behind the headlight, but this dome has more room, so I’m hoping the adapter will fit. If the fit is good, I’ll go ahead and buy the adapters, but if there’s an issue with clearance, I’ll stick with the soldered setup.

Any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated!
