Re: Yamaha RX100: 300 km solo ride to Valparai

Beautiful pictures and crisp photologue, not many are able to convey in few words and you nailed all of it, be it the bike , scenery, roads, beverages , food and technical skills. This thread had all of it, looking forward to your trips to Ooty and Kodai in your red beauty.

I'm sure you will enjoy the ride, there's nothing like living our golden days again.

It was my dream machine right from school days, unfortunately I wasn't blessed to own when it was in production.

Thank you. Sadly, my other 2 RXs are lying unused at Chennai for over 7 months now. Few chrome parts started rusting.

The classic Yamaha are just so well proportioned to my eyes. Especially the shape of the tank - it's just timeless design.
True. Wish we get a similar retro-bike with a modern engine from Yamaha

Have said it once, will say it again.

One needs a different level of mental discipline to tour on a 2 Stroke.

And that is the beauty of it. Thank you for sharing your wonderful experience.

Re: Yamaha RX100: 300 km solo ride to Valparai

Lovely pictures Mr. Boss and really brave of you to take her on a 300 km trip. This is what travelogues were back in the 80s and 90's. I had planned to take the Rx100 to Lonavala and back when I had completed work on it in 2016. But I was not sure if the bike would be able to do it. But looking at your post gives me the courage to do so. Once the bike is ready.)

Thank you.
To be frank I was very much sceptical to take her on ghats, only with gut feeling I did this trip. Mechanically restored bike with proper run can take this little / gentle abuse without much drama.

Re: Yamaha RX100: 300 km solo ride to Valparai

One more solo ride to same destination but in a different bike. Went till waterfall estate, had a cup of tea and returned back. It was raining during the return journey (till Pollachi)

Quick update about Valparai:
- Open for tourism now, not requirement of PCR test or anything else
- Not much crowded
- Weather is awesome, with intermittent rains (Last week it was raining continuously)
